I am 46 . & had a tonsillectomy a little over a month ago. The scarring is different on each side. On the right side I seem to have a flap or a fold that makes me feel like I constantly have something caught in my throat. I am also concerned that the flap/fold could harbor bacteria. My ENT has given me the run around - said there is nothing wrong but it could be removed in the future? I fear he made an error. Also, during the follow up the ENT indicated I could have acid reflux and prescribed Prilosec. I don't appear to have acid reflux symptoms but I am willing to try anything to to get rid of feeling I have something caught in my throat. Has anyone exprerienced this? I appreciate any help or suggestions!
If you think he's made an error, see another doctor. You definitely need to talk to someone else about it if that's the case. It doesn't hurt to get a second opinion. What do you think? Can you see one?
Yes, I just went to another ENT. He indicated there was a problem - that it looked like I had an infection. He prescribed some antibiotics and a compound mouth wash with an antibiotic and wants me to follow up in a few weeks. I had been to the other ENT 5 days ago & he did not indicate that I had an infection. The new ENT would not say if an error had been made - he said he would need to know what my tonsils looked liked prior to the surgery? He stated the there was "a lot taken out" & wants to wait and see . It's a good old boy network with M.D.'s. They protect one another. I don't want to sue anyone. I just want everything to be right. This flap/fold feels like I have something caught in my throat. I doubt antibiotics will get rid of tissue.
