Hello,
I don't know what is wrong with your hands, but I wish I did. I just had the same thing happen to me for the first time. I was in the shower, and I was just finishing washing my hair and my palms started to itch and radiate this burning sensation. It started on the palm side of my hands around my thumbs. But by the time I got out of the shower, my whole inside of both my hands were itching and just burning, really red, it felt like it was coming from inside my hands out. It isn't like a dry hand burning after you put lotion on feeling. Just like they are on fire. It is late at night, I'm not really tired, but that is a first for me. I thought I would try to google it, and I got this forum. At least you are not alone. Thanks for sharing. I don't feel terribly alone now. Hope we figure it out!

I have the itchy hand syndrom too!! As you say, around the thumbs and the palms of my hands. Also the tops of my fingers. Aswell late at night...I have no idea what it is. At first i thought it was a dog hair allergy, but i've noticed that i have it even when the dog isn't around. I hope someone can help.
the same with me at 2am it just came on. started in my left hand then 10 mins later it started in my right.
The only way I found to get rid of it was to immerse my hands in ice water for 10 mins. hope it helps some one else?
Yeah, I do this too. Ice cold water seems to do the trick for a quick fix. Sometimes my hands get so bad that they look bloated from the red welts, yet hours later it's as if it never even happened.
I think that it's psychological. It happens when I'm lacking sleep or stressed out. Mostly late at night while trying to finish up a project or during the day at work anticipating a presentation/meeting. I also notice that it happens when I absolutely abhor what I'm doing, but must do (like certain projects/work).
I've had this for several years (aged 36 now). Only happens when i'm sleep deprived (usually due to late night netflix sessions or gaming) Symptoms normally kick in if i've not had my 5hrs of sleep that my body seems to require, and even then it normally takes 12 or so hours till it starts to flare up.
It normally starts with a mild itching on my thumb and then forefinger. Soon afterwards those areas will go red, with what looks like some sort of rash or reaction to something. Occasionally it spreads to your feet but not often.
There's little that can be done to reduce the pain, i have however found that holding a cigarette just over the surface of which ever part becoming too unbearable can bring it under control, briefly. Likewise hot water can help but i cant get it to last long enough to make enduring the pain worth it.
After many months of this, i found a solution that seems to work 100% of the time... Go to BED, do not pass netflix or that computer game, do not give your partner that sly smile, do not collect 200; just go to sleep. It seems to fix the problem right up.

I have this too... it happens only when I'm tired. But one effective method is to turn on the hot water tap...and allow the water to run over the itchy area. The water will get hotter and hotter. The trick is to take it to as hot as one can tolerate without scalding or damage. So go as hot as one can handle. The itch will disappear like magic.
I have this too and on occasion happens to the soles of my feet.
Only remedy I have found is cold water, so to get to sleep I wrap hands/feet in cold wet flannels x

I also discovered allergy medication does the trick, specifically for me I use Zyrtec (but I'm not sure if its the only brand that will help). THE SECOND you start to feel your hands burn, pop an allergy pill and it'll usually be cleared up before it really kicks in! I hope this helps someone! This has been an issue of mine for YEARS and having a real solution is a blessing!
I’ve had this going on for 6 years now, every night it doesn’t fail. Starts with my right thumb then my pointer finger then moves to my left hand and feet. It’s just when I get tired and I scratch my finger so bad I make my fingers raw. HELP.
