Actually you should see a doctor about this, because it could be BV (bacterial vaginosis). If you don't see a doctor and you get something like monistat to treat your infection and you're wrong, your clitoris will swell up and you'll be in more pain. Trust me. I've been there. Also you shouldn't be afraid to go to a doctor about this, it's normal for these things to happen, BV is normally caused when your body has to much of one thing, since our Vaginas have a certain amount of "Good bacteria" we sometimes get to much of it, and we get infections like The common Yeast infection, or BV.

I am so glad to know this. I know I have a Candida prob, and have been eating sugar. I had bad smells and itching then it turned to swollen clit and its red and tender. it still kinda smells. i thought it was just a YI but then saw the swollen clit and got terrified i picked up something from a toilet seat! (Married same guy 5 years he was virgin when we met and are both ALWAYS connected at the hip) I'm a hypochondriac. But I get yeast infections freq after my period. (3 days after pms hubby can actually ejac in me so he does, it seems to cause an odor and issue each time though)    cannot afford dr so might google at home help.

it's probably an infection, be patient! :( let it heal by itself and if it doesn't, go see a doctor, hope this helped! :)

for all the young girls panicing about this...  go to a doctor! thats what they are for. im 28 and have had a few issues with dryness and itchyness. common symtoms of thrush or yeast/ other infections. for those of you worried about herpes... it may well be! you dont need to have sores. i had a very stressful time after having twins and developed a rash around my cliterous. i saw 2 different gyno's who didnt know what it was until it was tested. i had never had herpes or so i thought. it came back positive for herpes simplex 1 which is a coldsore virus which happened to pop up there! if you have had a coldsore you have herpes. did you know 70% of people do! just go to the doc!

If there's a fishy smell, then its probably bacterial vaginosis. However, do go to the doctor to double check.

I have the same thing, but I notice if u wash your vagina gently but thoroughly everyday and put on anti redness and infection cream it really helps, even just without the cream, but any moisturising cream may help. Just wash it and don't scratch :3

I've kind of been having the same problem. Its very sore, stinging red down there and I've been searching up on google trying to see what it may be and I've seen different types of things and there was one where it said vanual cancer or some thing I can't spell it ahha and it's "vagina cancer" and Im very scared considering I'm only young and I'm too scared to tell my mum and to go the doctors if they ask to "see it" because I'm uncomfortable with people looking or touching down There. :/

Does anyone have advice? :( desperate for help.

Hello, my name is Helenore I'm a British female doctor you say you have an itchy vagina and everytime you touch it hurts.
Some possible solutions can be that you have tore your skin while you scratched it. Try not to wear rough clothes such as pants etc. Wear loose comfortable clothes. It can also be because you are not welled clean try grabbing baby whipes and gently cleaning wear it hurts. It's going to be sore for a while but you'll be o.k sweet heart.

Your mum will not worry, I guarantee she's been through this too. It just happens. A yeast infection is nothing to be worried about, you don't even need to go to the doctor, just get over the counter medication - its a once only tablet and a cream for relief. It can even be caused by taking antibiotics for a flu as the antibiotic kills the good bacteria in your vagina that regulate the yeast. Without them the yeast builds up. You'll more than likely have this happen more than once in your life, next time you will know what to do straight away. But please don't leave it as it only gets worse. Go to the pharmacist ASAP! :)
