Omg .. You have described exactly what has been happening to me for the last 6months to a year. Never thought much of it, I thought that I was just letting my health go and out of shape. I'm sorry so many of you are experiencing this, but at the same time relieved to see that others are experiencing it. I did google Hiatal Hernia and it sounds like it's a possibility, as well as inflammation. I'll be seeing my doctor in a few weeks, hope to have some answers or at least have some tests done. I'll bookmark this page and reply when I know more ..sending healthy energy to you all ❤

I have had something very similar for the past 15 years. I first felt it while playing tennis when I was 14 or so, but now it happens several times a year when I do a random movement that triggers it, usually something where I stretch or bend in an odd way. It feels like a big knot tightening so much that it takes my breath away and I can't breath for a few seconds. I used to have it right in the middle of my chest where my ribs separate and the bump would be clearly visible and pulsate a lot. I tried pushing it back in once and it provided instant relief. The pain and locking feeling go away in seconds rather than minutes. The funny thing is that having a baby changed my body and the aching spot moved about a inch down alongside my left rib! I'm thinking it must be related to my upper abs. In the early days, I had brought it up to my doctors but no one really gave an answer, or cared to, really. But now that it moved, it's quite odd to me and I'll bring it up again next time.

TO ANYONE WHO HAS THIS PAIN THIS IS MY ANSWER:).I have had this pain on and off for years feels like a ball that sits over to the right side just under your rib line which can be felt more when your sitting....i had various tests and blood tests which all came up negative. The transverse part of your large colon runs straight across the upper abdomen and has a greater than ninety degree angle in it (check out abdomen anatomy pictures online)this place is common for gas to collect and the bowel can blow up like a balloon(i was told this by a doctor who did a ultrasound scan on my abdomen).

The feeling i had seemed not to be there on waking because the bowel relaxes through the night and allows the gas to expel but on getting up out of bed it wasnt long before i could feel it again as the bowel gets into its working day of moving food and producing gas.

Stressing about the pain will make it worse and as the bowels are connected to how stressed you are this does not help to get worried about it...i have had this approx 15 years and it has never transpired into anything serious.

When you see how tightly the bowel is packed into your abdomen you can appreiciate that it can cause problems and i believe some peoples bodys are more senstitive to feeling pain or uncomfy feelings....in my experience it is the people that get stressed out easy that seem to feel more about there own bodys.

My solution is not to take any meds as i have tried a number of them(Colpermin, colofac etc)and they dont make any difference....dont eat massive meals try to err on the side of eating slighlty less than you need.

And the main thing is not to stress out over it...my dad has had this for around 30 years and hes 76 now and its not caused him any problems apart from the feeling of it.

If you try to take the feeling for what it is that it is just a feeling inside the body then eventually it will subside...the feeling will always be there but you will less aware of it(have you noticed if your extremely busy and busying your mind over something when you think back to that time you cant remember having the feeling or most other body feelings for that matter)

Try laying back on a bed and do deep breathing focusing on just your breath...you will be suprised that the feeling dissapears.

Oh and also another few things i found...if i put a bit of weight of its seems more noticeable guess theres less room in your abdomen so try to keep your weight down and also if you can manage to get going on a excercise bike or treadmill that helps too..just to point out it seems all these people go through numerous tests for the docs to find nothing as i believe in my case there is nothing wrong i was just focusing on a body feeling...good luck:)

I have been dealing with this for years and no one seems to knowv what it is. Can't bend to put on socks or tie my shoe it knots up. I can't even sleep or lay on my stomach as if I do them sharp pain in the area that knots up starts. Very frustrating. At least I know I'm not the only one who experience this. Have had my gallbladder checked been scoped they did find a lot of gastritis in my stomach and it one time I did have an ulcer. BUT this knotted feeling still had never went away.

I have had this too for the last 10 months. It feels like muscle knots all over my abdomen and rib cage and sides. I can't sleep on my sides or stomach without pain. Sometimes when driving or just sitting I get burning pain. I wish I knew what this was. If anyone finds an answer please let me know!

I have had this happen and was diagnosed with a hiatal hernia. They can move, go in and out of place. Your stomach can also get strangulation and that can cause serious issues. My chiropractor has actually put my stomach back in place, although the gastrointestinal Dr said the only way to do this was with surgery and that was only done in extreme cases, like strangulated stomach. I was diagnosed by having an upper and lower gi. BTW I don't have a gallbladder, removed 2002, it was located on right side midway between the bottom of ribs and waist. This is higher on me, along the bottom of my rib cage. Another suspicion I have, this could be the digestive tract just passed stomach also, a recent xray revealed an almost calcified impaction there. I have had other digestive issues since this began also: extreme bloating, diverticulosis, acid reflux, indigestion, constipation / diarrhea, heart burn, and issues with absorbing vitamins. Good luck to you all. Hope this helps.
