Large Persistent Pimples on Penis

Hello

I am 19 and I have a pretty large, pink spot/pimple on the shaft of my penis (this has happened a few times now). Im pretty sure these spots appear where the hair follicules on my penis are. Although I am certain that I do not have an STD, because I have been checked and these spots usually dissappear after a few weeks (or sometimes, unofrtunately a few months).

I am hoping to find some advice about how to prevent this happenening again, or how to reduce the size of these spots when they appear, I am not sure wether or not to use standard pimple cream, as I expect that the skin on my penis might be too sensitive.

This problem is making me feel depressed as it is very unatrractive, so I am not sexually active for quite long periods of time and I have had to end relationships etc, because I am too embarrased to explain this problem to a partner.
