how many of the people who posted problems here are over weight?
Hello fellow sufferers of the unknown condition. I've had this problem for many years now, sometimes with a few clumps or long strings of jelly-like semen. I have read in many places that this is "common" and that you shouldn't be concerned about it. I think that is a bunch of BS and it IS something to be concerned about because not all men have this problem. I have been doing research on this condition for many years and although my conclusions are far from definitive, I believe that this condition can be caused by one (or more) of the following factors:
1. Damage / disease of portions of the male genitourinary system
2. Dietary deficiencies
3. Pharmacological side effects
I am not a doctor but I did work in the medical field for almost 10 years as an EMT, but that hardly qualifies me to say these are the true causes of this condition. But here goes anyway!
Based upon what I've read from multiple forums, posts, and medical journals throughout the Internet, the symptoms are very common and include gelatinous, yellow-colored clumps or strings that get expelled during ejaculation sometimes with pain in the pelvic area or testicular area. As with many, I have experienced the same or worse symptoms and would really like a group of urologists to get together and figure this out once and for all.
Damage / Disease of the Genitourinary System
My most prominent belief is that physical damage to the seminal vesicles are the cause of this condition. Normally seminal vesicles only release their fructose-rich secretions immediately after ejaculation of the spermatozoa and prostatic fluid, but I believe that if the glands are damaged they may actually leak back down into the vas deferens to the testes causing the build up of gelatinous and clumpy semen. Damage may be caused by physical trauma or disease. It is also possible that a cyst, tumor, or at its rarest, cancerous tissue may be the culprit for this damage. Reference - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seminal_vesicle
The only recommendation for this cause would be microsurgery which, of course, is risky at best and could result in additional problems. So in reality there is nothing you can do about it if this is the root cause of your condition, which sucks to say the least. The possibility does exist for the removal of the seminal vesicles altogether, which may help to alleviate this condition.
Another cause, however it's very unlikely, may be excessive amyloid deposits from the prostatic glands which build up in the vas deferens or testes. Amyloidosis is a build up of protein-like structures that sometimes bond together. Because of the presence of a type of amyloid in the prostatic gland, this cannot be ruled out either and can be easily detected with laboratory testing of ejaculate containing the jelly-like clumps / strings. Reference - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amyloidosis
Another cause could be Ejaculatory Duct Obstruction (EDO). EDO isn't necessarily the cause in this case, but cannot be ruled out as a possibility. EDO can be caused by physical damage to the genitourinary system, STDs, cysts, tumors, prostate conditions and at its rarest, cancerous tissue. I believe that partial / complete EDO may cause the semen to literally back up in the system and become more gelatinous over time before being ejaculated. EDO can be caused by many things to include damage to the vas deferens, prostatic ducts, prostate, or the ejaculatory ducts.
Dietary Deficiencies
The seminal vesicles produce a fructose-rich substance that causes sperm to be sticky / jelly-like during ejaculation. The substance secreted by these glands contain proteins, enzymes, fructose, mucus, vitamin C, flavins, phosphorylcholine and prostoglandins. Again, you can see I go back to the seminal vesicles as the secretions of these glands are most likely the culprit for this condition.
Some have reported that taking a multi-vitamin rich with Zinc or Vitamin D have improved their condition and others have reported success by simply increasing their water intake. While this works for some it does not necessarily work with others.
I have tried increasing my intake of Zinc over a period of a month with mixed results. At "recommended" levels I still experienced this problem as well as with intake of Zinc beyond the recommended levels.
Increasing vitamin-D intake was not a method I have evaluated to attempt to alleviate this condition.
The cells in our genitourinary system, as with any cell in the body, depend on a delicate balance of vitamins, nutrients, minerals, enzymes and fluids. Without the proper diet many things can go wrong to include this condition.
Pharmacological Side Effects
On many forums there have been posts about the existence of this condition with certain medications. Some have reported that after discontinuing use of a certain medication their symptoms were reduced or cleared up entirely. Again, each individual's physiology prevents the conclusion that discontinuing certain medications may alleviate their condition.
From my research and understanding of the seminal vesicles there is a lipid compound contained in the secretion called prostaglandins. Prostaglandins can be produced by cyclooxygenases (COX-1 and COX-2). Prostaglandin levels are increased by COX-2 in instances of inflammation, which does occur during the ejaculatory process. Prostaglandins serve many purposes, but the one I feel is most important is its ability to dis-aggregate platelets. Most often platelets are found in the blood stream but I believe that the prostaglandins secreted from the seminal vesicles helps to maintain the fluidity of the secretion.

I know this is a FAR reach, but you might be asking yourself, what is he getting at here? In relation to pharmacological side effects, certain medications, such as Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDS) (COX-2) inhibitors can actually prevent the production of prostaglandins. Most NSAIDS are utilized for the treatment of inflammation which is a result of COX-2 production due to physical trauma.
COX-2 inhibitors can include, but are not limited to, Tylenol, Advil, Motrin, Naprosyn, Rofecoxib, Celecoxib, amongst others.
Of course we all know that long-term studies of people taking these medications have had many additional problems. This condition may be a result of long-term usage of NSAIDS. So in a nutshell, what I am saying is that taking these medications may actually cause harm or even permanent damage to the seminal vesicles to the point where they can no longer produce prostaglandins. But again, this is simply theoretical and would have to be proven in multiple and lengthy laboratory tests.
Summary
Well, it took a long time to get this point, but from my perspective the best way to attack this condition is by trying the following:
1. Pay close attention to your diet and if you are not getting enough Vitamin C, Vitamin D or Zinc consider taking a multi-vitamin as well as additional supplements.
2. Increase your water intake. Never hurts to try. At least ten (10) 8 ounce glasses a day. That's a healthy thing to do anyway. Helps to flush the toxins from your body.
3. Reduce the number of NSAIDS you take for aches and pains. If you have chronic pain that requires being medicated on a daily basis, ask your doctor about alternatives to COX-2 inhibitors for pain relief.
4. If none of the above help, see a doctor (preferably a urologist), and mention to them what you have read here today. If they disagree with you, tell them they are an id**t and get a second opinion. And don't pay them for their services. The less they make, the better the chance that they will be forced out of their profession because they are a quack and only know how to regurgitate information they learned from text books.
Well, that's it. I hope that you found this post useful and that it helps you to the point where you can alleviate your condition. If you run into success with any of the methods suggested, please post it here so that the rest of us can have a chance at normality once again.

You can take vitamin c, it kills UTI Bacteria. To be specific the name of vit c that works very fast was Pen-C. You can take with probiotic foods like yogurt and Yakut regularly. Proven no kidding, this could help you
The itching around your anal area could be caused by pinworms coming out of your colon. Check really close to your stools for any movement indicating worms. If you see such activity, collect a sample and go see your doctor. He will probably have you take some pills for a week to kill the worms and your itching will be history.
Hi,
Actually jelly-like substance is from the "food for the
spermatozoan" when it is coagulating. Actually is beneficial !!!

I am 39 and do not track any prescription drugs I have been noticing the jelly like stuff in my semen for the last 8 to 10 years. I had testicular cancer 5 years ago and have been going for regular checkups including ct scans, x rays, and blood tests. I did not have to go for chemo or radiation therapy. So I dont think its from prescription drugs or radiation sense I had this jelly semen before and after the cancer, but I have been consernd about it, so I started looking on line and so far I found it could be a build up of sugar and proteens in the testicals due too a reduction of ejaculation frequency, and or dehydration. I dont know if it has any thing to do with difficulty mantaning an erection or not ejaculating as far as I did before. I hope this helps.
How many of you with this condition are using Vaseline or something else containing petrolatum as a lube?
I've had this same issue and figured out that it was related to using Vaseline. I'm guessing it gets absorbed through the skin over time and must build up somewhere internally. The jello-like substance actually has a consistency similar to Vaseline, right? I think this is the body trying to excrete this non water-soluble substance that has built up. Switch to a water-based lube or a natural oil like almond oil. After a few weeks, the problem will fade away. If you ever return to the Vaseline, over time the problem will return as well.
As for the yellow color, that seems mostly to be related to hydration (and age). The less hydrated you are, the yellower your urine will be and the yellower your semen will be too.
WK
I looked for an answer to this issue over 15 years ago when i first saw the jelly type masses, i had all sorts of ideas from doctors etc, i even saw a specialist in urology after tests on my semen, he concluded it would be difficult to get a woman pregnant and all he could only come up with a thing called 'jeep drivers syndrome' which apparently was something that caused similar issues in drivers of the harsh riding jeeps in WW2 and i drove a truck at the time when it first became apparent, there was nothing on the internet about it, i've been told dehydration - yet my urine is clear and i consume around 8-10 litres of water a day, sugars ie diabetes been tested all clear, zinc deficiency - tried all levels of zinc supplements up to 2000mg a day, almost every blood test shows my levels as spot on, got told to ejaculate more - tried up to 4 times a day really puts you off after a while, but still the jelly came, not every time but often enough, tried lowering my protein intake, my digestive system went into melt down! still the jelly was there, i then got told how it was something to do with my testicles, yet i figure that after having the snip nothing from my testicles was reaching my prostate, i do believe it's a prostate issue, maybe it's 'over active' - i have heard of over active Thyroid glands before and the prostate is a gland, i just wish it was gone, as does the wife!
Well boys I'm a 21 yr and I've been having the same problem for 2 years now, small jell like clumps in my jizz, I went ahead and asked my doctor. He had informed me that a yellowish discoloration is OKAY in most cases. As for the clumps, it's completely normal. No two people are alike.
Regardless the fact that your man jelly is yellow isnt to be over looked! you should consult your family doctor because it could be a sign of of a UTI (Uranary tract infection) perhaps a "prostate infection" as previously stated by someone else if you keep yourself hydrated it might subside. If your having problems keeping wood chances are you have a prostate infection, make a doctor appt.
A finger in the ass is worth saving yourself the embarrassment with the ladies! Happy porking boys!
HYDRATION..... Over the next week abstain from ejaculation. Drink AT LEAST 1.5 litres of water per day (quite a lot and is recommended daily). AND, get in some exercise gently running or even star jumps -anything.
post your results I am 98% sure it will be fine after.

i am 25 and i have yellow globs too, we should make a club out of this, the yellow globlens, lol just kidding but i too take antidepressants and suboxone every since ive been on the depressents its been happening, now if i have sex of masterbate alot it doesnt happen only when i wait a few days..its gotta be what we're taking guys hope this helps...
I had this problem. It showed up very acutely for me. It kind of freaked me out because it was quite consistent and quite obvious once it showed up. There was literally no variation no matter what I did (drink more, sleep more, ejaculate more, etc)
I scoured the internet but couldn't come up with anything that worked to fix it, so I started thinking about the things I had changed about my lifestyle lately.
I realized I had recently changed my diet to include "gluten" again (which I was off before because a doctor suggested I may have celiac disease). I started eating it again out of laziness (also because I was never formally tested which I probably will be now). But when I started eating gluten again, that's when this issue appeared. I decided to go off gluten again and within a few days, everything cleared up. The color returned to normal as well as the consistency.
What clued me in was that I read in various forums that this issue can result from prostatitis and also that celiac disease (and also sometimes just gluten itself) can cause chronic prostatitis in men.
If you found nothing you've done has fixed this issue, try going off gluten for a week and see what happens (be strict). Make sure you research what gluten is in because gluten sneaks it's way into a lot of things, including things you wouldn't expect (like Rice Krispies).
I'm not a doctor or anything, but it's certainly worth a shot.

What the hell makes you think for one minute that there is a god?? Open your eyes and take a good look around, nothing can screw up this bad!!!
Found this while looking into the subject myself (24/male/virgin/on anti depressants)
The jelly stuff is actually the sperm, the milky liquid that you usually see a lot of is seminal fluids (food for yer sperms etc)
For those that are experiencing pain, my personal opinion would be to drink more water. Lack of fluids cause the body to cram more into what little water it can spare (thus the less water you have the bigger and harder the globs of jelly will be).
Also it would probably help to drain the pipes at least once every 2 days or so.
Hope the article below helps relieve some of your worries.
You're going to love this answer! What you're describing it totally normal, its the actual sperm in your ejaculation. One of the things no one ever really tells us is that an ejaculation contains two types of fluid. One, the seminal fluid is that whitish creamy colored stuff that we usually have more of. The other, our sperm, is usually jelly-like in consistency and yellowish in color. So, as you're already noticing, the amount of sperm changes from one ejaculation to the next, that's why you'll see more or less depending on how many ejaculations lately etc. So, rest easy my friend....and remember....that yellow stuff is powerful when placed in the correct location! Be careful!!
