Hi! I can’t sleep anymore. A month ago I noticed that my left tonsil is enlarged. I am 23 years old women, and I never had before that kind of problem. I didn’t yet see a doctor because I afraid of the result. Maybe is some kind of cancer? What do you think what should I do?

Hi! My advice to you is to see a doctor. Probably isn’t anything serious. There is little possibility that could be lymphoma. You should have CT scan and tonsil biopsy to determine cause why your tonsil is enlarged. Even when something serious early treatment is is most important for recover. Don’t wait, worrying also can cause health problems. Good lack!

Hallo,
You have to understand first that chances of cancer are very small. However your tonsils can swell from many things. Mostly the swelling happens due to infection of your kidneys and sometimes this can be caused by sinus infection that came down to your throat. Have you been taking any medication for this condition? How strong is the pain in your throat? I know that good thing to do to avoid this complication is to use mouthwash often after you brush your teeth. It can help kill the bacteria that gets on your tonsils. Have you considered the option that you get your tonsil out? Procedure is very common today and it can be done in very short time.
