I've noticed this too. I'm not a big drinker but lately even 2 drinks and I'm cringing in pain later that night but I've found if I take a magnesium pill it goes away almost instantly. Try it. If I have to I will take up to 3. Any magnesium will do. Costco or whatever. For me it's like I'm hooked up to electricity in the bottom of my foot. Not fun!

Try taking a potassium supplement with a full glass (8 oz) of water before going to bed.  It helps me.  If I forget...I take it first thing on rising.

This little forum is...eye-opening...I can't believe it has taken me this long to figure out why I'm in so much pain, and after spending literally thousands of dollars on rheumatologists & pain meds...I drink a LOT to "cure" my social anxiety & end up looking like an absolute tool. Now it's just become a habit to have a glass of wine in the afternoon over my studies...then another two or three at dinner. I had my liver function test done & it's not looking good. I am going to stop drinking for a month (hopefully) and see if the chronic leg pain goes away. I am so certain drinking is the cause...though a tad confused as one of my bone scans came back slightly odd with bone inflammation...still, I'm going to give quitting booze a try- what have I got to lose? I'm terrified... Please wish me luck! God bless!

the problem stems from your body not being able to break down lactic Acid and cope with the hangover. As the legs are the largest and most used muscles they are the worst effected. Hence the pain

it's not anything to do with circulation is dehydrated and electrolyte imbalance that's causing your pain

Looks like there is no solutions to this other than quitting alcohol.

I socially end up drinking around 3 pints of beer a week. Now I am done. Have to decide on an alternative non-alcoholic drink or try a different juice each time.

I think this link from Wiki should help if at all we are at this stage or would end up at this stage.

I guess this is where I'm supposed to say that I have all of these symptoms too. Sore, tender calf muscles. They are sore enough that I can't walk around much without a lot of pain. I also have pain in my hamstrings, and in the arches of my feet. This has been going on for three years. I have ruled out every muscle disease because I don't have any other symptoms except the leg pain. I do drink, usually about once a week. I usually have about six drinks when I do drink. After reading this I am considering giving  up drinking completeley. I also drive a truck. I wonder if sitting in a truck 10 hours a day is giving me circulation problems.

Seriously, learn how to write a proper sentence and correct us of punctuation before you write a comment. Your comment is very difficult to read.

You can tell when you are getting advise from a non-drinker and it's the last thing anyone needs or wants.

I've never been a heavy drinker, but i notice pain behind my knees in college the morning after keg parties. But not after every keg party, only some. At subsequent parties, I began asking what type of beer was on tap and found a very repeatable pattern of pain with one very popular beer companies products only, but not with any of the others. Ever since, i've avoided that brand like the plague and have only had reocurrances when i wasn't being dilligent (like a friend buying me a beer at a sporting event or festival). I'm relieved that I'm not the only one who experiences this, because when i tell people that this certain brand of beer makes my legs ache, they think I'm nuts. Lol
