life expectancy for dogs with cushings disease

My dog was diagnosed with cushings 10 years ago. Don’t panic like I did. I put him on vetoryl compounded by diamondback drugs in Arizona. Much cheaper and easier. A few year ago I brought dose down to once a day. He has been off medicine totally about 5 months and doing fine. Taking him for blood work this week to make sure. He is 13 years old.

Hi we have a 12 year old Staffy that was diagnosed 12 months ago and the vet put her on the most powerful medicine available at huge cost .It was like a chemo drug .I cant remember the name but it made her a zombie and she slept 24 hours a day .I read that she could cause addisons disease and that would kill her quicker.I immediately took her off and went and saw the vet and he agreed.She drinks copius amounts of water eats a lot but doesn't pee all the time like she was and overall is 500% better off the heavy meds than she was on them . she doesnt shake any more either .She loves a walk in the park and still gets really exited when you mention the word ''walk' but lets be honest she is getting old an one day will die but i dont expect even with cushings that be any time soon .......but had we left her on the other drugs she would have been dead in 3 months ! I suggest you watch and monitor and make them as comfortable as possible because i can really say its a minefield and even the Vets cant say for sure (black or white ) what you should do as its trail and error but i say again watch those chemo drugs and dont keep giving them where you dog is becoming a zombie as they are killing the dog .

Have you tried FreshPet? My dog loves it. She was diagnosed with C.D. last spring but hasn't exhibited any of the symptoms since! I believe she was misdiagnosed or it was a miracle!!! Am going with her test results to another vet for second opinion. I want quality of life for her as she is 11 and 1/2.

Did you do treatment on your dog and if so what treatment did you do my dog was just diagnosed with it and just started treatment but have been reading alot on it some say to treat some same not to .I don't want to hurt him by doing either or if ones bad please give insight

Hi my German shepherd Mitch died 8 years old a month a go ,his leg was same and. He had a pot belly ,we took him to vet 'they done tests 'it was showing Cushing's disease 'they had put him on steroids for skin ,it was a while 'any way they dragged it out ,he died ,they vet said they never acted quick enough bastards

My Chihuahua/Boston Terrier was diagnosed with Cushing’s one year ago. He is just 7 years old. I have treated him only with Adrenal Gold and he has responded well. He still pants and is over weight with a pot belly but he is happy, active and has lost no hair. The prescriptions were too expensive for me and had too many possible side effects. I get it from Amazon and am pleased with the effects of the drops.

My12. Year old dachshund just passed away from suspected Cushing they told me he might not have it so no medicine was suggested he undoubtedly had it but to late for medicine
