Ladies please help me out here! I've just started a new exercise regime and for once and finally sticking to it. However I'm ready to quit again due to the reason I always quit: I have long labia and they chafe when I run, walk, bike, any type of physical activity. Aside from labiaplasty, how can I resolve this? I try to fold them up and put them inside me :$ so they don't irritate but that doesn't help. The only thing I haven't done is duct tape them away, maybe that's what it will take? Now labiaplasty isn't an option ($$$$$$) but oh how I wish it was! I will be first in line if ever medical insurance decides to cover it. But ladies out there, can anyone offer any advice? It's a tough thing to bring up with my girlfriends because really who wants to admit in person "oh i have freakishly long labia lips and they chafe when I run!"? I've gone to the anonymity of the internet hoping for some good feedback! Please oh please help!
Depending on the country you live, some insurance companies do help with the cost of a labia reduction. However, the medical/function need has to be verifiable. That is, if it is considered cosmetic, it will be denied.
Also, if this is the route you go, make sure the doctor you choose has experience and knows what they are doing! This surgery is straightforward, but can have its complications with the wrong doc.
Best,
Vanessa
