As above- seeking an experienced endocrine/parathyroid surgeon to do MI 4 gland surgery using only regional/local anesthesia. This is the only way I'll feel safe having it done.
None of imaging reports (including nuclear scan) have highlighted any adenomas. However, an US in surgeon's office showed a nodule or ?? to right of thyroid which she suspects is diseased parathyroid based on her experience.
My serum calcium levels and PTH levels are indicative of parathyroid disease and perhaps multi-gland problem. My understanding is that she only looks at one side at a time. At initial meeting, while she was willing to at least attempt surgery w/o GA or sedation, the anesthesia group she works with absolutely would not.
Any good candidates for finding what I need to feel safe will be much appreciated.
I've reached out to the Norman Clinic and was informed that they only do the surgery under GA/sedation. So for several reasons they have been ruled out.
