Are there any differences in the way men and women lose weight? I need to shed some pounds and wanted to do that with a quick diet, but I am not really sure whether any of the diets that are mentioned often are any good for men as well? What do you recommend for a guy who wants to lose some pounds in a week?

I am not sure why you think that the diets you have read about would not be any good for men? I don't think there are many differences to be honest. Those who eat less and who eat better, lose weight. It is as simple as that. If you feel comfortable with it, you could do a juice fast for two days - that should help you lose 3 or 4 lbs.
