What could be the cause of loss of bladder control after a partial hysterectomy? It's not stress incontinence, it is contant leaking of urine, all day and night!! What can I do?
hi jill, poor you first a hysterectomy now this! having a hysterectomy changes the structure and support within the pelvic cavity. oestrogen plays quite a substantial role in the muscles within the pelvic cavity including the bladder, bladder lining and the urethra, even if you still have your ovaries there may be a reduction in their function, causing a reduction in the amount of oestrogen produced.
HRT is an option to help with this but a side effect of synthetic HRT is stress incontinence so a bioidentical form may be worth considering. ultimately this is a problem that many women can suffer with and for this reason you need to speak to your specialist / doctor who will be happy to advise you and provide treatment that will suit your particular circumstances. hope this helps
