Hello. 40 year old severe recovering alcoholic here and to make a long story short. Yes. It is all alcohol related. I have experienced the exact same thing over the course of 12+ years of being intoxicated almost every day. I started having severe problems several years ago with my health. Seeing blood in the stool and this and that was a normal occurrence.
My father was a chronic heavy drinker as well for about 10 years. From 50 to 60+. He was on hard liquor and ran an accounting company at the same time ( A Functioning alcoholic as they say). Weekends were worse when he totally drank himself into obliteration and could pass out anywhere.
He went for a general health check up and the blood test showed that his liver was shot. Doctor had a real hard talk with him. I think he got a severe health scare, because after that day he has not touched a drop. And he has been sober for 22+ years now. But as luck would have it, his liver generated itself. But it took over a year of total alcohol abstinence before it went back to normal.
As for myself as i said, i had blood in stool as well from time to time...Or more often and constant diarrhea from alcohol.
Now i am an alcoholic and i will be for the rest of my life. But if you are experience these symptoms after drinking then you know what is the cause. Alcohol either if it is in Beer, or Wine, or Liquor, should never be taken lightly. Because what is the difference of drinking 15 - 20 beers or drinking a bottle of vodka when the alcohol amount in your blood will still reach the same levels and do its damage. Absolutely none.
I know it was a long post and if you kept on reading this far i commend you
