I am 63, male, average to below avg weight. Healthy otherwise. Hypertension meds only. Never a big drinker in my life, 5 beers in a year was more than normal. Family history of alcoholism, both parents.
In the past two years, I've taken to have a beer with dinner. One can to one and a half, about 700ml. More and more frequently and have been drinking less and less to where a 1/2 can has caused severe headaches six hours after consumption, and can last over eight hours. Half my head and neck are in terrible pain. I've refrained from any beer for the past four weeks. No headaches. Last night I had less than one shot of a single malt scotch. 6 hours later, same issues. No OTC meds, ice or anything relieves the pain but time. Can anything else cause this issue? I plan on having some blood work done later in the week. Where I live the medical is very, very limited. Thank you.
