Hi there! I am a 23 year old female and I have recently broken up with my boyfriend. He cheated on me, which is why we broke up, and we always had unprotected sex. I also had a one night stand since the break-up, but I did use a condom for that. Now, a lump has appeared on my perineum and from what I have seen on the net, I am suspecting genital warts. Did I get this from my ex, or could I have gotten it from the one night stand as well?
First of all, I want to tell you that you shouldn't self diagnose when it comes to STDs, and if you suspect you have genital warts, you need to go to a sexual health clinic for a diagnosis, and for treatment if you do turn out to have them. Secondly, you will never be able to tell for sure who gave you an STD, unless you didn't have sex with your ex since the one night stand, and he admits to you he has the same STD you have, in which case you got it from him. Otherwise, you can get genital warts even if you use a condom, because skin to skin contact in the general genital area not covered by the condom can still cause genital warts. Please refrain from having sex until you get seen by a doctor.
