Good to see you back man,
It could have been the large amount of carbohydrates (pasta+lemonade), but that should subside in time (i think). I feel I can tolerate more sugars than a couple of weeks ago. It made me feel weak/tired and uncomfortable and my stool would be bad the next morning. Chances are good that you get better in time, as you already noticed.
Try to stay positive. If you feel anxious, try to talk to your unconsious: "Nice try, but I'm in control, not you.". Seems a bit weird, but should help.
If you should take weed is entirely up to you, but for the next couple of months I would avoid it and concentrate on getting balanced (mentally and physically) again.
IBS.., my opinion is that it is either caused by the THC (motility -> SIBO) or that it is caused by anxiety (increased by the THC). The mind can start some weird symptoms in your body. As a large portion of problems are caused by the unconscious mind, doctors fall back to conditions that end with -itis, -algia, -syndrome etc.. You would be surprised to see how large that portion is...
Let me know how things work out for you. I won't be around here that often anymore, but I keep a lookout for posts in this thread. Good luck!

It all depends how long and how much you smoke. I would say the munchies are the cause. You will get the munchies several times. You go for all the food you like the most having the munchies, the problem is the mixture of the carbohydrates that may cause the upset. Paranoia with Sativa strains is also high, with that comes the anxiety which doesn’t help. Stick to the Indica strain. Weed is fine but take a break, just like anything else, moderation not excess.

This is a syndrome that is under-reported and not known by many in the medical community. My best advice to you is to STOP using marijuana and consider anti-anxiety drugs under the care of physician that truly understands your situation. I had a fried that was hospitalized four times in the last ten years with the same symptoms and treatment regimen you described. Ultimately, it was determined that he had Cannaboid Hypermesis and ceased using marijuana after chronic use for ten or more years, and accepted treatment via Lexapro.

Good luck to you ... I hope you find this information to be helpful.

It was discussed here recently (page 19). It sounds to me like being a psychogenic set of symptoms caused indeed by anxiety from in this case smoking cannabis. It resembles and maybe is the same as CVS, but that's up to the doctors to determine. I think it is under-reported because it is a pretty extreme symptom in cannabis users, although I wouldn't be surprised if it will be reported more often in future... thanx for the post!

I am smoking weed more regularly within the past two months.. I would say about 2-3 times a day. And when I don't... I just poop and poop and poop. Also, I tend to throw up, also. My brother (who also smokes) has these problems but they began when him and his girlfriend of 2 years broke up.But when he smoked weed, he had an appetite and his stomach hurt. When he didn't though... It was the same problem I am going through. I think a lot of it is stress. That can really harm your stomach.

Hey guys,

Can anyone tell me what can ease my stomach? I was a heavy smoker for 3 or 4 months and I have noticed that when I'm not high my stomach feels so upset like i constantly have to throw up but I try to hold it down because smoking pot has helped me to gain weight. I am under weight just a little and I have always been that way. Soooo I used weed to help me get the munchies and intake so much more calories which worked wonders. I gained 20 pounds. Something else, I have swallowed the weed as I inhaled it sometimes not knowing that could very well be why I'm having this issue. I'm quitting smoking completely and I don't really desire to smoke anymore weed. I even stopped drinking as of today to try to make my stomach better. I get thirsty alot and thats all I can seem to keep down is fluids. antacids seem to help make it feel better but doesn't help my appetite. Any clue as to what can help?

DON'T STOP DRINKING!!
Your body needs water and it will not make your stomach better if you don't drink. Avoid drinks with lots of sugar in it, drink tea or plain water. Make sure you get your nutrients by trying to eat small amounts of healthy food or try soup.
What have you been eating when you smoked??
Do you have any anxiety issues?
Did you swallow weed as is??? I mean without baking it in a cookie for example?

Here is an update regarding my case.

I've been doing well. I just recently went to a Psytrance festival and was higher than I have ever been, smoked/vaped and ate edibles 2 days straight and guess what? Not a single problem! Had an excellent bowl movement they day after.

What I have noticed is that when I drink Milk my stomach hurts again. Even though my doctor never tested for it, I think I have become lactose intolerant. And since every fainting episode had to do with an intake of high lactose, like 3 slices of pizza, oatmeal with milk/milk and cake/milk and cereal, milk alone, cheesy pasta (which is basically what my diet used to consist of) I think diary products was the main villain. I'll still try to keep smoking at a minimum just to be safe, but its good to see I can smoke and not get abdominal pain.

Those who are experiencing similar issues should test everything including avoiding dairy products to see if that helps ease abdominal pain, especially if you have no past history of having health issues. I can safely eat yogurt though, so I have been eating a lot more of that.

I already messaged you, but again, great discovery!!

I read that yogurt, although it has lactose in it, is sometimes better handled when you are lactose intolerant, not all yogurts though.

Im 17, and i have had the same stomach problems since fifth grade, im a girl however and i thought that the first time i got them, they were period cramps, because the feeling you are experiencing is very similar to that, however i got that sh*t checked out and it is actually anxiety cramps. right near your appendix, (many confuse it for appendicitis) which is right where you feel your pain, and where i feel mine as well. i smoke weed too, about every day, im trying to cut back as well...but cali weed is just too good... but you arent crazy, the pain is a real thing, and if smoking helps you, then by all means smoke, because the pain is very uncomfortable, and doesnt go away, unless you have anti anxiety pills. so ya, hope that gives you some insight!

I am 29 and have been smoking pot regularly since age 23. However only recently since I became a caregiver, did my stomach pains really start. I thought It was an adhesion of the stomach wall and intestine from a hernia surgery. After using myself as a guinea pig  I discovered the pot always made my stomach worse. Eventually It made my stomach feel as if it was on fire, it gave me very rapid breathing. then I began to vomit and did not stop for three days. Had to go to the ER and by that time there was blood in it. I researched every other thing it could be, and got tested for cancer. Eventually the doctor at the ER told me it was due to my smoking pot.

It's definitely the pot. What happens is it slows down the movement of your intestines after the THC has had plenty of time to build up. Then bile backs up into your stomach because they are not moving. Then the wall of your stomach starts to get digested by the bile. This is why you also typically get horrible heartburn when you eat anything with any sort of carbs and sugar. The inflammation makes you vomit. and because your intestines can't move and push food, they simply release more mucus so things will flow again. This is why you get loose stools.

When I would smoke, I would not really get high, either. More, normal. I Dropped down from 165 lbs to 139, my lightest ever. When I stopped smoking, I got better. Slowly.

Right now I will say this. Anyone who smokes too much will get sick eventually. My "Patient" is also starting to feel stomach discomfort, and he uses it legally as a muscle relaxant replacement to help him sleep. He has had three back surgeries in the lower lumbar and lives every day in pain, and he tells me that it helps him. I test the stuff I grow, cure it properly. Its amazing weed. very sticky and full of resin, potent medical grade stuff. I'm small scale, I keep bonsai plants that yield an ounce and a half max, using only 211 watts of electricity.

Six months after my first ER visit I found myself in pain once more, and so I began to taper off the use of pot, start taking a single hit from a pipe or several from a vape just before going to bed. Also, take pepcid, known as Famotidine. It really reduces the acid. it works within ten minutes with a glass of water on an empty stomach. Baking soda works well in a pinch, spoon of baking soda in a glass of water.

As a side note I believe that perhaps cannabis might be a good drug to take if you like to lose weight, because you don't want to eat.

If you can moderate your use of pot, say once every eight days, you can get super high, and not get sick.

I plan to quit. I have gotten what I needed from pot. It forces you to grow up, by making you stare death in the eye. Both from sickness, and bad trips from having too much or hitting too hard. You're only here for a short time. Discovering the miracle of life in all its forms is far greater than smoking some plant. Bask in its existence.

Good luck everyone.

Hey Guys take my advice here.... I'm 25 and have been smoking everyday all day for 5 years. I eventually got to the point of smoking an 1/8 a day just to function normally and eat. For the last 4 years Iv'e had the works really badly, acid reflux, cramping, pain, vomiting,  loss of appetite, belching, nausea, bloating etc. A week ago i started vomiting like you've probably never seen or heard before, I couldn't keep even sips of water down i was in so much pain and nausea. I went to the ER 3 days in a row before they finally ordered a cat scan.

They found that part of my large intestine had been pulled so far down into my small intestine that it finally completely blocked up my intestines and nothing could pass. They performed emergency surgery on my intestines to remove the part getting pulled into the other. This happened because I developed a polyp which is what pulled my large intestine down into my small.

The kind of polyp I had was created by chronic stomach inflammation. Smoke of any kind can irritate and cause inflammation in the stomach (and i smoked heavily all day). The more you smoke and the more you hold smoke in too deep (like into the stomach) the more inflamed your stomach lining will become.

This site talks about the causes of chronic stomach inflammation:

***this post is edited by moderator *** *** web addresses not allowed***Please read our Terms of Use

In my case i believe it was all my heavy smoking (I took monster hits), long term use of nsaids, and a period of intense alcoholism that all created the polyp. Stress and Anxiety also Genetically modified foods and additives cause stomach inflammation as well. And I suffer from pretty heavy anxiety 24/7.

Although my case of the polyp dragging my large intestine into my small was Very rare, who knows what chronic inflammation will cause You.

So if you are experiencing all of the common symptoms everyone seems to share, it is largely, but definitely not solely,  because of the quantity you're smoking and how deeply you let it in and stay in your body. DON'T BE FOOLED into thinking its just the weed. Because the truth is smoking is just ONE PART of whats causes your chronic stomach inflammation and all of your symptoms.

Do your research on stomach inflammation and think about your life and everything else that may be contributing.

From now on if i ever smoke its gonna be like a once a month kinda thing if even that. Good luck guys and stay strong, it can be freaking brutal at times but just know you can heal with the proper knowledge and determination. Dont let your case become like mine forcing you into the operating room.

Best wishes - Taylor Sharp

So after reading your post ( very informational BTW) I am wondering do you think since it is resign causing it.. would an edible be an alternative to smoking? I am prescribed for headaches and insomnia. I suffer from these stomach troubles too. The marijuana seems to be the only thing that has helped with the headahes.
