Everyone reacts differently. I just quit and have thrown up everyday multiple times a day no matter what I eat for the first three days. With weed it wouldn't be an issue.

I wonder if the nightmares are the result of repressed anxiety masked by mh. Maybe mh doesn't really relieve anxiety so much as repress it, only to come back later on.

I am an addict. And have been one for as long as I can remember. I quit drinking and hard drugs 3.5 yrs ago. I kept smoking pot to help keep my bipolar meds at a low dose. Recently I began attending NA Meetings and the NA way is complete abstinence. I am on day 3 of no weed and let me tell you, I feel sick to my stomach. I believe that it's from my meds because when I smoke the nausea instantly goes away. I thought I would spend the rest of my life depending on pot to keep me sane but all I have done is replaced one addiction with the least harmful one. If it comes down to using oil to treat cancer or another ailment I will definitely try the weed oil before chemo.
Day 3 no weed, I feel strong but the addict in me is fighting every step of the way....it may be psychological but either way it's not easy to abstain but it's doable. Nothing is impossible or I wouldn't be here today.

Bringing up old threads but I am currently going through the withdrawal symptoms and haven't slept in days. Cannabis has these things in it called cannabinoids you also have these normally regulated inside you all the time. When you smoke pot for an extended period of time your body depends on cannabis to make these cannabinoids instead of your body therefor cannabis can in some user generate physical side effects. THIS IS 100% FACT. There has been studies done since medical marijuana has been legalized in many states and they have found that the users that experience physical side effects actually have something in their brain that is different from other users that makes them dependent on the drug. Anyone saying that you are a liar for having physical symptoms even though they said they have insomnia themselves is a complete id**t that does not research anything and says "yeah weed is cool man weed isn't bad at all can't be its a plant" you're just buying into your own propaganda.

Been smoking daily for 20 years. Took family vacation and quit. I basically did not eat anything for a week and lost 10 pounds. I'm trying to quit for good just because I've been smoking so long - figure it's probably best for my long term health. Seems like appetite is returning. Stopping 100% for sure caused me to stop eating. I will say my bowels are better! No more dumping 3 times per day.

It may not be physically addictive, but there sure as heck are physical withdrawal symptoms. I have quit twice now in 15+ years of daily use and both times the same symptoms. I am not having cravings for weed at all you are right about that, but my throat hurts I cannot sleep and I couldn't force myself to eat anything except a tomato today. Withdrawal symptoms are real, regardless of physical addition. You don't get addicted to riding on a boat, but when you step on land your body has to adjust. Side effects are real - addiction is a different subject.

"There is no such thing as physical dependence on cannabis." I'm shocked a doctor is saying this. Such an outdated school of thought. It has been proven over and over again that there are in fact physical dependence and physical withdrawal from marijuana. It's way more psychological that anything, but the physical part is certainly there. If you're a habitual smoker and try to stop then you usually have at least some loss of appetite and some sleepless nights while your body is detoxifying. I think the doctor needs to have a refresh on this subject matter.

Utter BS. There are most definitely side effects from quitting.
