Hello Michael,
I’m sorry to hear that your mother is suffering, that is the probably the worst feeling for a son to have to experience.
The important thing that decides how dementia will progress is your mother’s age. The younger she is the bigger are the chance that the stroke, depending on its severity, caused damage to the brain blood vessels and surrounding nerve tissue. Basically, the place of the stroke determines which symptoms your mother will have. That is why you need to consult with her neurologist to give you all the details, but generally, I’m afraid that the news are not good because nerve tissue does not repair itself after an injury.
The symptoms she is experiencing now, will, unfortunately, become worse, not only because of the diagnosis your mother has, but also because of her general health.
I truly wish you all the beat.
