My mother-in-law is currently in the hospital after having been diagnosed with viral meningitis. She was in terrible pain (neck) and was first told she had severe arthritis. After being admitted to the hospital, and undergoing MRI's, bone scans, blood work, etc. the dr.s say she has an infection in her leg - kind unknown. She also has a 'germ' in her blood - thier term - that is a staph infection. The Dr. said that they are most worried about the infection in her leg, but don't know what it is, it may have to be drained or they may do surgery (on what, I don't know). My husband and I are not local and are hearing information from brothers and sisters who are. What questions should we be asking to find out just how serious all of this is?
