Normal menstration blood, to me, smells like fresh meat. It will become odorous if you don't change your pad or tampon regularly. Do you have the "fishy" odor when you are not menstruating?
You wouldn't have an infection during your period and have it go straight away when your done. You may want to check with your gyno just for good measure. :-D
