I really wish that there were more people like you I truly feel that there are to many people who judge people on subjects that they have no clue on what they are talking about its really sad that we have so many closed minded people in this world we do live in a world of first impressions but that also means that if you open your mouth and make an ass of your self thats just what you will be so before you decide to make a comment on a subject that you have no clue on what you are talking about please rember that when you assume you really make an ass of yourself!! And I truly wish the best for everyone and pray for a fast recovery!
Sorry to hear that a lot of people take bc thereally tiered of taking medication for conic pains or whatever the reason and are slowlly trying to not have to takeep medicine anymore. I deffently agree with you
I've seen it happen to friends and there are good doctors but yeah a lot of them will treat that way. But they lucky have good doctors.
Apart from the dangers of the actual surgery while on Methadone - trust me they need to know or you will be in TERRIBLE pain after the surgery. I know from experience. They have to accommodate for Methadone after the surgery while managing your pain.
I agree with you completely. There is no reason that you need to tell him. I know exactly why you mean about being treated differently by doctors. They look at you like your the s**m of the earth. Take it from me, I went to the dentist and need emergency oral surgery...they had no knowledge of the fact I take 80mg of methadone a day and have for many years like you. I realize this answer comes a whole year later , but I just wanted to express this to you anyway.
Thank you for your post, finally someone that knows what they are talking about. Its common since everyone... A lot of these threads are ridiculous .
Did you tell the surgeon about it? I am having the same surgery next month and I'm on 12mg coming off also.
I am petrified NOT to tell my sergen im on methadone. Im going into Sergey this morning .been on 150 mg of methadone for 4 yrs now . I went and signed a release so my methadone provider and my sergen can speak and both decide what is the best way to go with me so I feel a bit safer... I would never go under anesthesia without telling. ..thats asking ro make my children motherless .. but last yr I had a major stomach operation cut in 6 places .. the hospital refused to give me anything not even Tylenol. .it was agony . The next morning while Dr's were doing there rounds one heard me moaning and crying rocking he flipped on the nurses .. he gave me something in my iv nothing to harsh but just adavan to atleast calm me . He moniterd me and gave me strong ib profin with adavan and it didn't take the harsh pain away but it did help to the point where I cld sleep a lil.. point is do your homework. ..make sure when nurses switch shifts are aware of dr decisions ect... don't ever not tell ..your life is at risk
Our you could suffer immeasurable pain because they treat us differently if we're on methadone. I'm not telling my doctor when I have surgery.
Dude I was noting to say anything but what does that got to do with this forum? What you said was not only useless but a waste of words.
Surgeons don't give anesthetics...Anesthesiologists do
You obviously don't know anything about addiction. I've been clean for 12 years on methadone and its because of the methadone that I can live a happy normal life now. Its no different then taking prozac for depression. And you aren't dirty if you have a prescription.
my friend I went through the same thing,,, They denied my daily dose surgery day stating no food or liquids, I woke from a gallbladder removal and I was like a noodle twistinig and turning and screaming. The nurse pointed to a lady beside me who was given 3 mgs morphine for the same surgery and she was smiling away happy as could be ,,,, then I stated they made a big error denying my methadone ,,, They litterly pumped 55mgs of morphine into me and I started to have breathing issues but the pain only intensified,,,,,, Finally I figured out that im on 90 mgs of methadone and 55mgs of morphine had not even came close to my regular levels,,, I flet like the surgen was inside me still teraing my gallbladder out not using any knives or medical tools just strait tearing,,... it was the worst pain of my life
I'm having a procedure and going under anesthesia. I take a lot of meta done and I have a huge tolerance to opioids. What can happen ?
I'm having my gall bladder removed also and am on methadone. I always get those looks and the downward glances (probably because I'm looking for them, then I have had others who say good for you. It is however better to say its from chronic pain. Just to be safe. I had a lady argue me down that there was absolutely NO WAY I was on 120 mgs. She put down 10 mgs.. I have been put to sleep 2 times. The gall bladder will be my 3rd with them thinking its 10 mgs. Tomorrow I will tell the anesthesiologist how many mgs! Better safe than sorry. Id rather have someone look down on me than to have to be in a coffin with everyone looking.
