I just had my second silent miscarriage and I'm devastated. I was twelve weeks and two days into my pregnancy. I had light spotting at seven weeks, went to the ER, they did an ultrasound, found a heartbeat at 150BPM, gave me a shot of Rogam because I'm RH negative, then sent me home. I felt so relieved and happy. Two days ago I felt very sick. I was throwing up and left work at lunch to go home and rest. I had not had any morning sickness throughout this pregnancy. At 7:30pm I went to the bathroom and saw a bit of blood (very little). I went straight to the ER. After five hours of waiting they did an ultrasound. The ER doctor said he didn't feel he was experienced enough with ultrasound machines and that I should go home and wait for the ultrasound department to call me with an appt to go in to have one done there. They called the next day, I went in at 1:30pm, then they sent me to the ER for the doctor to give me the results. I waited another four hours. Finally the doctor said that I had had a miscarriage and it happened between seven and eight weeks. I was devastated and of course still am. I also found out that I had twins!! I wanted the D&C right away!!!!!!! They sent me home because I was not priority because I was not bleeding or cramping. This was Friday evening. They also gave me a shot of Winrow, also because of my RH negative blood type. They finallly called me Sat. night and said I could have some dinner, I had not eaten since a bowl of cereal Friday at lunch. I was told to be at the hospital ready for surgery at 7am Sunday morning. I arrived and they did the surgery shortly after 8am. Things went fine physically. Now I want answers!!!! I feel empty and so discouraged. I'll be 35 in August. The first time this happened I was 26yrs. old. The miscarriage happened the same way. I don't even want to try again. I could not ever handle going through this again. I want to give up.

I recently had a misscarriage at 14 1/2 weeks on april 20. I went into the doctors for a normal check up and they found no heart beat, no symptoms alerted me to the problem. I had to have and induced labor as the baby was too big for a d&c. The doctor tested my blood and also the baby. They found that I had a clotting disorder called mthfr. I guess this can increase risk of miscarriage due to my body not producing enough folic acid. If I get pregnant again they will put me on folic acid, along with other b vitamins, baby asa, and possibly heparin. For those of you that had a similar experiance, I would suggest the simple blood test. At least then your doctor will know the problem and have a plan in place for the next time! Dont give up! I am almost 40 and the doctors assure me that I am not too old to have a baby. and now that they know what to watch for chances of sucess have hopefully increased!

The bleeding and cramping of a miscarriage happens because you lose the baby. When the doctors say you have miscarried the baby but you haven't had any bleeding yet it just means that you haven't 'passed' the baby out yet. Unfortunately a lot of women can take several weeks after they miscarry to actually expel the baby and sac.
I just miscarried at 5 weeks. I had bleeding but no cramping and my hCG levels were still going up slightly. Not sure if I have already physically lost the baby or if this bleeding was something else and I have more to come but I figure should still be watching for more bleeding and the cramping to begin.

On the Friday Sept 15 I mesured 9wks 4days and the babies heartbeat was at 189 beats per minute. My husband and I were so happy first Baby we were happy, on Sept 25 we go in for a doctors visit an the doctor does a u/s and she can't find the babies heartbeat but don't tell me anything she sends me to the hospital for a v/s. I get the the hospital an the tech can't tell me anything she can't let me hear a heartbeat but she's totally fine she's smiles and all. I ask her one thing since she can't give me any information I ask how many weeks does it say I'am and she said 9wk 5days I new then something was wrong. I asked her well if my baby was dead would the doctor let me leave this hopital she said we of course not, so I was under the impression that I was fine an the baby was too. I was so wrong. Now Monday I still don't know the results of the test still waiting calling the doctors office asking if they have got the report and no the report was not done. I called down the hospital myself and told them they needed to give the report to the doctor, within 15 min the doctor calls me with bad news No fetal Heartbeat she said Fetal Demise I was so much in denial I still am I feel as if I was put on the back burnner and foregotten about. I steel do not have any bleeding or cramping and according to the size of the baby it had to have passed on Sept 17. Baby has been gone for 12 days and I have not had any cramping or bleeding I think the baby is still alive and they messed up or maybe I could be in denial but I don't feel like I lost anything cause I still havent bled or seen signs of m/c. I don't know but I have a u/s on Thursday the Oct 1st ill know for sure then. I'll keep you updated.

At only 2 weeks/2 days pregnant, I was told that my HCG levels dropped in half and to go home and wait for a miscarriage. That was 2 days ago. I've had cramping for the past 2 weeks but everything I read says that's normal for the first trimester (unless it's really severe or accompanied by bleeding). I have not bled at all, except for the light pink implantation bleeding, which is how we figured out I needed a blood pregnancy test.
I'm just wondering how long I'll have to wait to start bleeding. Is it possible to have a miscarriage that PASSES THROUGH THE BODY with no bleeding? I'm only 2 weeks pregnant, so is it possible in that case?
Also, for those of you who were told to wait a couple of months before trying again: I have a friend who recently miscarried. She bled for 6 days, ovulated on day 11 and found out she's pregnant again on day 21! I've read that there's some evidence that a woman is more fertile immediately following miscarriage and that--unless there was some kind of infection--you do not have to wait to try again. You're supposed to count the bleeding from the m/c as day 1 of your "cycle" and watch for ovulation. It will likely happen BEFORE you get your next actual period. If I actually start bleeding and know that I've passed the m/c, my DH and I are going to definitely try again immediately.
Good luck to us all!

I am going throught the same thing, my last period was sep 1st and when i was a week late i did a test and got a +, i wanted to try the digital tests that say how pregnant you are to be shown a "not pregnant" 2days later i did another test (same as the 1st) and got a stronger +. we went away the weekend and sunday all my pregnancy symptoms just went. it was turning a tap off so a further 6tests all came back negative. that was over 2weeks ago and after visiting my doctor i have now had blood tests to see if i was pregnant at all.
My doctor says it is likely i was pregnant but had a very early MC and without the bleed my body could have absorbed the pregnancy.
i am waiting on the results either today or monday to find out for sure but still no bleed. hope you get some answers

i was 8 weeks pregnant i went for a scan on Thursday and they told me that they could not find a heart beat and I had miscarried on Wednesday (the day before!). I have still not started to bleed and have no pain at all. could there be a chance the machine did not pick up due to a mistake or something? I can't come to terms with it as I have no tissue loss or bleeding to make it evident

I'm a healthy 23 year old, my husband is a healthy 26 year old. We were expecting our first baby...we thought we were 18 weeks...yesterday (December 6th) we went into the Dr.'s office to have an ultrasound to find out the baby's sex. Only to find out that the baby had passed at 14 weeks. It was a "silent miscarraige." No symptoms. We're still confused about how far along the pregnancy was. According to my last cycle, the due date was April 29th, however we had an ultrasound and the due date had been pushed to May 12. We moved from Florida to North Carolina and on our first prenatal visit, we heard a strong heartbeat and the Midwife said everything seemed to be exactly the way it was supposed to at 16 weeks. That was only two weeks ago. I know I did my best to take care of the baby...there was nothing that could have been done to prevent this. I go in for the D&C this Friday and have done hours of research...there are so many women who have experienced this and know that it was nobody's fault. It just wasn't that baby's time to come out into the world. There are risks to be had with the procedure but that goes with having birth as well. The Dr. gave me two options...1) Deliver the fetus naturally or 2) Have the D&C...I chose to have the D&C. The Dr. said not to have intercourse while bleeding and to wait 6-12 months before trying again. However, there are other doctors out there that would say, "wait two months." or "try again when YOU are ready." No matter how hard it seems and even if you feel like the whole world around you has become blurred and dark...remember that you are never alone. A lot of miscarraiges are the result of chromosomes...whether it's too much, not enough...whatever...it's nothing to do with the mother or the father. My husband and I plan to have a memorial for our baby and take time to heal...but we also plan to try again. We've read that folic acid helps prevent chromosome-involved miscarraiges...There's always hope, never give up and remember that God always has a plan.

I just wanted to warn against opting for a D&C the minute you are told you have lost your baby. I know some of you have said you read it was better...but I would have killed my child had I done that. I went in to the ER cause I was bleeding heavily, they did an ultrasound and there was no heartbeat and tons of blood in my uterus. The level of my pregnancy hormone was lower than expected also. I told them I wanted to ride it out and that I wanted to have tests run on Monday to see what might have caused it. When I went in I asked for another ultrasound. My bleeding had stopped but nothing came out that I was told would. The hospital jumped to conclusions.....I had an overy rupture that my little girl had done herself to actually HELP her survive. The hormone levels were low and the heartbeat was not visible because my doctor was very wrong about how far along I was.
So PLEASE don't just believe in your doctors....give it some time.
