Monistat 1 - how long does it take to work? what is normal?

I have had a yeast infection before, but went to the doctor for it.
now that I have one again, I don't have any insurance. I used monistat 1 for it this time. I am curious just how do I know its working?
my pain and itching and swelling have decreased, but I am still having a lot of white clumpy discharge. I still feel that there is a problem down there, but it isn't crippling now. is that normal.
and with the monistat one, (which I won't use again) there came a night of no sleep because it amplified everything by 100!!! itching and burning!!!
so what is normal for a yeast infection when it is clearing up?

this is reassuring to hear! I have probably had this yeast infection for a while but kept ignoring it as sometimes they do go away by themselves. I decided to take the Tioconazole 1 dose treatment. It burnt when i went in quite a bit but i just went to sleep and decided to forget about it. `in the morning the symptoms felt like they had gone until i stood up. I guess this was the ointment coming out of me and burning on the way out. Today i have had moments when i thought i was fine and then moments where i thought it felt A LOT worse than before.... it made me a little anxious but I have read a few things on the web that say after treatment it gets worse before it gets better. I really hope this is the case and its only up from here!!

No, it isn't. It's the fungus Candida and is not at all a bacteria.

Y'all! What a wildly irritating infection! Reading your comments has made me feel so much better not only to know im not alone, but also by reassuring me that my symptoms are normal. So I'm going to include my story in case someone needs it. I'm in the middle of finals so when I noticed the infection last week, I brushed it off hoping it was something I'd done having sex to make it itchy and that it would go away. Then maybe about three days ago the itching turned into redness and inflammation from the scratching, and it started to hurt to pee. I still ignored it but in the back of my mind I realized I needed to go to the doctor. So then two days ago I was bed ridden basically from the itching and I was convinced finally to see a doctor. And actually, yesterday, I started seeing little red itchy bumps too. Unfortunately with my insurance I can't go to urgent care so I made an appt with my pcp for NEXT WEEK. That's too far away. So I did a lot of reading and decided that even though I really haven't seen much discharge, the rest of my symptoms matched YI. So I went for Monistat 1 and almost immediately the symptoms went away. I went to sleep happy. I did wake up in the middle of the night with a fierce itch but I re-wiped with the cooling wipes and reapplied some of the antifungal itch cream and now 4hours later I'm still feeling much better than I did this time yesterday. Its still slightly painful to pee (from the rubbing mostly) but the cream really does seem to have affected the yeast growth automatically. I even looked up Candida albicans and its life cycles and how the active ingredient in monistat affects it and between that and reading these comments I'm so relieved today! Hopefully it takes less than a week to go away but I'm thinking of starting the 7 day treatment just to be sure. I'all come back and update.

Agreed. Because doctors talk about "good bacteria", the yeast itself is a fungus hence why on the monostat or any yeast infection treatment says "anti-fungal cream"
I am having the same experience currently. Today will be the fourth day since using monistat 1. I hope by tomorrow this is over with for me too! So uncomfortable when it leaks out...I honestly thought because it was 1 instead of 3 or 7 that it would clear it up faster
You're supposed to put it in right before you fall asleep so it dissolves then has those 8 hours of sleep to work. If you use it during the day when you're up and around it will just come out and not work to its full effect.
hi, with the itching down there close to your vagina, it is not only you. I believe its because of the discharge of the cream maybe coming out with what was there before. because that happen to me before and as soon as the bulk of cream came out, the itching stops.
Never douche! Especially with vinegar
It says on the box that symptoms will worsen on the first day of use but will be better the next day.
I have a Yeast infection I normally do use Monistat but this time it doesn't feel right I'm using Monistat but I'm getting a burning sensation it's not helping the pain
Actually, yeast is fungal, NOT bacterial. Big difference and totally different meds to treat it.
No, because what we have is POWERFUL! LOL!!
How long does it take to work? & how much yogurt do you use?
Ofcourse because they want your money. "Write a prescription"!
I've been thinking the same thing is it normal for white clumpy stuff to last a long time. I inserted it last Friday.
