I have had a yeast infection before, but went to the doctor for it. now that I have one again, I don't have any insurance. I used monistat 1 for it this time. I am curious just how do I know its working? my pain and itching and swelling have decreased, but I am still having a lot of white clumpy discharge. I still feel that there is a problem down there, but it isn't crippling now. is that normal. and with the monistat one, (which I won't use again) there came a night of no sleep because it amplified everything by 100!!! itching and burning!!! so what is normal for a yeast infection when it is clearing up?

A yeast infection is FUNGAL not bacterial.
yes as it turned out I did not have a UTI, I did not have a reason to be taking monostat in the first place, I did have blood in my urine but when the labs came back it was not a UTI, doctor should never have given me the anti-biotic in first place. Turned out I had to go to urologist and it was kidney stones from dehydration from the e-coli effect on me. I never did take the monostat anyway. Thank you for your note anyway.
I don't have insurance and the GYNs in my area only accept those with insurance. So, naturally I went with monistat, though, I know it's not recommended when it's your first, but no insurance means no doctor visit. Anyways, my symptoms only ever really showed up when I had unprotected sex with my boyfriend whom I've been seeing for a year and a half now. The discharge was white and clumpy, like cottage cheese, there's a bit of a smell that was unpleasant to me, and itching that's been on and off. None of this has been consistent, basically hasn't lasted for days. The discharge is only after sex and the itching is after sex and period. When I used Monistat 1 24 hrs ago now an hour later I had extreme gas, which isn't uncommon with me, and bad diarrhea, but only then, which also is common as I've always had stomach issues and certain foods affect it differently. Other than that while I was using the restroom there was like this white substance, I'm assuming was the medicine, it was kinda thick but not chunky at all and that was the only time I've seen it since and it's now been a full day.So, I guess my question is, is that normal as well? Should I be feeling something? Cause my lady parts feel fine. The only time they got itchy was right after I showered and then I put the cream on them and the itch/burn went away almost immediatly. So, is it working? Or, am I just stuck with a possible yeast infection until insurance is actually affordable?
No it's a fungus. It's not the same thing.
Yeast infections are fungal, not bacterial
You're supposed to do it at night while you're laying down flat so it can stay in place.
I was put on a 3 day antibiotic treatment 2 days ago. Today the burning was so crazy I went to the drug store and bought Monistat 1 just in case I had a yeast infection as well. Oh my goodness, I put the little white pill in about two hours ago, used the cooling wipe and I already feel so much better. Like some others on here I found this thread after I had already inserted and a lot of what I read scared me. I have been kind of waiting for that terrible reaction to happen but so far so very good. I am happy I did not read this before I used it, I may have chickened out LOL. I do feel bad for all you ladies that did have the bad reaction :
it is fungal
So I decided to take the monistat 1 ovule. Does anyone know how long it will take for it to all come out? I didn't have any burning like many of you, in fact, the first day I felt perfectly fine. before I took it I noticed my normal discharge I get about 2 weeks before my period started to change into a creamy yellow mixture and a not very strong smell but hey I know how i smell and it wasn't the same so usually I got the 3 day which i think is awesome. didn't have any problems but here i am in day 2 of the day 1 ovule and my vagina is so irritated when im up and walking around i want to scratch but i tell myself no. uuugh so i thought mayb its just irritated with the liner so im basically walking around my house bottomless and i even got the itch cream but early it took forever to work.... I didn't even have any itching before i took this stuff, there was no irritation what so ever..and now... I regret not getting the 3 day
Ok so I had my first yeast infection about 1 month ago. one day I felt a weird feeling in my vagina and it also felt itchy along with small amounts of white discharge. I decided to take a diflucan pill that my friend had and my symptoms went away fairly quickly. Ever since then (its been 1month ) I've experienced slight itching I thought the yeast infection had returned... I also did a self examination and saw some white stuff around my vulva....no discharge or odor so I decided to go to my Gyn she did a test and also an examination. She found no yeast, said she didn't observe anything odd and gave me an external cream for the slight itching. About two weeks went by and I noticed that there was still white stuff around my vulva (hole)which is not normal to me.... it's usually pink on the inside if my vagina. So I took measures into my own hands and purchased monistat 1. I exeperienced no burning or itching. I put it in prior to going to bed and did another self exam the next day,the vulva area seemed to have returned to its normal color and I'm still experiencing draining of the monistat.
I am experiencing these difficulties right now I used the same thing I'm about to go crazy
So I wasent sure if I had a yeast infection. I've only ever had a yeast infection 2 while pregnant both times I've been pregnant! But ministry 1 has been good to me just don't scratch at all costs I knew all three times it was a yeast infection because I was getting a light clumpy discharge like mini cottage cheese no joke but I apply Mobistar 1 after I shower dry of and then insert right before bed is recommend a pad to catch all the medicine and discharge but all the symptoms go away in 4-7 days (don't scratch at all cost) and yes after you insert it you will be sore and uncomfortable for at least 24-48 hours lots of odd discharge for 3-7 days Good luck ladies but this product works!!!!
I've used the M1 three times for yeast infections and have had the same results each time. About an hour or so after inserting the egg I've had an unbearable burning, itching sensation and I just want to die its so uncomfortable. It only lasts 30-45 minutes and after that there is still a slight itch, but the symptoms subside dramatically. I usually see results within 2-3 days after the initial dose. Normally the discharge from the medicine clears up in 3-5, and it does the job. If you go to sleep right after you insert you can usually sleep right through the 30-45 minutes of hell.
A side effect of Monistat is that it makes you burn and itch a little more. It says it right on the instructions. It doesn't mean an allergic reaction or that it is working. It also doesn't mean you have a bacterial infection like someone said. Monistat 1 may be only one dose, but it takes up to a week for it to clear everything out. Just wait it out andthings should be clearing up.
How many days do you use the yogurt for?
