I have had a yeast infection before, but went to the doctor for it. now that I have one again, I don't have any insurance. I used monistat 1 for it this time. I am curious just how do I know its working? my pain and itching and swelling have decreased, but I am still having a lot of white clumpy discharge. I still feel that there is a problem down there, but it isn't crippling now. is that normal. and with the monistat one, (which I won't use again) there came a night of no sleep because it amplified everything by 100!!! itching and burning!!! so what is normal for a yeast infection when it is clearing up?

This is happening to me as well, exactly. I am very dissatisfied with the lack of education women have on dealing with these. I am going to try yogurt next, as I hate corporate chemicals, knowing they don't give to shakes about women's health.but I am still in the 7 day process with monistat. I have itchy bum this morning too and I'm thinking, "Is this shit spreading?"AWFUL!!! I hate being in a bad place with my Vagina. it is the worst feeling.
I put in the monistat 1 day soft gel pill last night and now there is a bunch of white discharge ? Does that just mean it's working? I haven't had burning or exponentially added symptoms. Mine were eased immediately. But it's still a little tender there.
I am so glad to see this post! I had a yeast infection 2.5 years ago for the first time and went to an immediate care center and the doctor prescribed me 2 doses of Diflucan to take a week apart since it was such a bad infection. It cleared up just fine. I started getting itchy yesterday but it was just occasionally. After my nap today the itching was insane. So I grabbed a mirror and investigated -- yep, I found yeast. I asked my mom (I'll admit I'm 25 but mom knows best, right?) if I should see the doctor or just get an OTC treatment. I had always heard in commercials that those should be used only if it's not your first infection. So my mom told me to get the OTC stuff. I got generic brand Monistat 1 Day or Night. Inserting the ovule was painful and I'm surprised I was able to inflict that on myself (I'm a virgin who can't even use super absorbency tampons, if you catch my drift). But I got it done. I was curious as to how it all worked and when I would feel better so I searched and found horrible, horrible reviews of the 1-Day stuff. Scared the crap out of me. The itching, just 4 hours later, is already completely gone, but I am burning a little. It's very bearable and I shouldn't have any trouble sleeping because of it. I haven't urinated since inserting it so I don't know if that's painful. But I am getting the leakage from the ovule. Anyway, THANK YOU for your comforting review. All the others included wishes and plans to sue the company for their product!
A yeast infection IS bacterial.
I used the one day treatment&&i felt better as the days went on but I'm on day 6&&it seems that as I lay in bed itching is like it was its driving meh crazy but my discharge is cleared up.
I used the M1 on what would have been the 2nd day of having a yeast infection. I found the cooling wipes and cream really helped a lot instantly.  I put the pill/cream in side as the directions called for. From there I went to lay in bed.  The next day was really no better no worse, I was at work and tho a bit itchy paid little mind to it. Later that night everything swelled up so much I could not even close my thighs all the way. I was in so much pain the next 2 days that I could do close to nothing. I was not scratching, a lil rubbing but no scratching I know better. The pain was sooo bad at night I found myself awake for 3-4 hours each night. Last night I slept though the night.... Today is 5 days after I have taken it, my vaginal opening is still pretty swallon and a little sore, I have a chunky discharge how ever its a bloody discharge as I think I have started my period in the mix of all this but have VERY light flow due to my IUD. I have little to no itching. The only discomfort I seem to feel is the swelling still as I said and the lack of "normal" vaginal moisture. I was thinking of starting a 3 day treatment as I am still swallon and have discarge... but after reading all of this I think I will wait until after what would be day 7 and see if all is cleared up.
Uh, no. It's not. Yeast and bacteria are two very different beasties.
That's probably because you didn't lay down like the instructions told you to. They pill sort of liquifies after you put it in which is now what you are seeing all over your underwear.
Me too. I wish i would have googled this a long time ago. M1 is too strong!!
Same here.... I started using Monistat 7 yesterday night, it started to itch right after i applied it .. In the morning i peed, and some white stuff came out, like if it was the cream i put on, i'm not sure if it's supposed to do that or what it was because that has never happened before... Oh and it burned a little bit too.. And it was still itching a lil. So i'm not sure if it's supposed to do that or not, can someone help explaining it? ..I asked my sister, she said it was just killing the fungus.. But i wasn't really sure. Or am i to anxious to get rid of it? .. Will you see results right away? .. How long does it take to see the results? ... HELP PLEASE! >.
Monistat 1 is entirely too strong! I decided to skip the doctor (the Health Center nurse moms at my college judge), and look up the symptoms myself. Everything pointed to a yeast infection, so I researched taking Monistat. It said to take Monistat 1 if it is your first yeast infection. So I just took it about an hour ago, and I've been up, itching like crazy! But actually, I can't sleep or even focus on studying (finals this week...). This only think I am concerned about is big white clumps came out after I stood in the shower and scratched (yes, this is how ridiculously itchy and uncomfortable I am right now). Are those clumps normal? And definitely be cautious of Monistat 1! It's wayyy too strong!
I got my yeast infection almost a week ago, but I mistook it for a UTI. (I had the burning while peeing, the discomfort...etc...) I had been taking Cystex and actual prescribed drugs I got for UTI... NONE OF IT WORKED! Then a few days ago, (5 days into thinking it was a UTI) I woke up, and the pain had moved a little lower and then I looked up my symptoms. I hurried off to CVS where I got a test that told me I was positive for a yeast infection. I went back, and this isn't the first time I've had to use Monistat. Last time was a few years ago, and I had used the 3-day treatment. I opted to try the One Day treatment because of the great results I had with the 3-day and assumed that it would work a little faster... I got home, inserted the capsule. The intense burning and itching... GONE. I didn't have any problems, no pain... nothing. Then came the next day. Sometime in the evening, the burning and the itching returned. I had assumed that this was a side effect... Today is one week from when I first got the symptoms, and I feel like it isn't going away. The ointment barely relieves anything... only the itching but, the burning urination feeling won't go away. It's only been 3 days (including today) since I took the M1. :/ I'm starting to get really sick of this feeling... I don't know if I need to get the 3-day treatment ... and I don't have health insurance at the moment ... So I can't go to a doctor (Don't have the money for it.) Any suggestions? How long did it take for M1 to take full effect?
It says not to have sex for a month because it can wipe away some of the medication
What is the Rx that your doctor wrote you?
What was the medicine he gave you that worked so fast?
