My 26 yr old son was diagnosied with mono in 01/09.
His symtons are not getting much better: He still has dry irritable skin, spleen discomfort, nausea and fatique. He was in his last quarter of collgee when he contracted it and he didn't/couldn't slow down much. He completed school on March 23rd and has been resting since than.
He has had a couple periodic days where he has felf better and then right back to feeling punky.
Is this normal for mono? should he see the doctor again? are there supplements that would help?
One last thing he was diagnosied with a very aggresive leumimia (ALL with T strain) in 1989 (he was 7 years old). Can his childhood diagnosis and treatment be effecting his recovery rom the mono?
Mono usually only lasts for about a month, so I don't think it sounds like he is recovering normally. Are you saying that he is still suffering from severe fatigue and nausea, or is it mildly uncomfortable? His childhood diagnosis may be affecting his treatment, so when you see the doctor again, you should mention that as well. Unfortunately with mono, there isn't much they can do--but it is lasting much longer than it should, so talk to your doctor. Please keep us posted on his recovery!
