Hello. I'm 45 year old female and about a month ago I was diagnosed with one disease called rheumatoid arthritis.
I really don’t know a lot about it accept the fact that I know it is very serious and that it has something to do with the scenario when organism attack it self somehow.
Anyway, just recently my doctor prescribed me this strong therapy with Methotrexate (MTX) and told me that I should take the drug every day at the same time because wanted level of MTX in blood must be obtained. Why is this so important? Can someone please help me understand some of these things!?
Hello. I know how confusing this all may sound to you but trust me- there is nothing complicated about it.
You see, Methotrexate, although- originally was applied in the treatment of cancer, this drug is now used as an immunosuppressive agent in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis and other chronic inflammatory disorders.
There must be a steady level of this drug in your blood because only needed concentration of MTX can have anti-proliferative effect on cells involved in autoimmune reactions.
I don’t know a lot about all this but I think that he inhibits some enzymes during this process that are important for developed this disease.
