Hello my friend
I had the Urolift when it first came out 10 years ago. I had it done 6 month's after it came out. I was my doctors 10 patients. It is over 9 years and all is still fine. No side effects and do not feel them at all. I would have it again if I had to have something. I have 4 clips in. You can have up to 8. I have 2 on top and 2 on the bottom. It does work if they are put in right. Ken

My husband just went in for a bladder stone removal yesterday. Low and behold if the clip from the eurolift wasn't inside his bladder.......

I've been trying to find a place to post a review of Urolift. I'm 72 and had it done about 4 yrs ago. The recovery was very uncomfortable for about 6 days...then I was fine.. So the first year or maybe two, there was improvement. I'd guess maybe 60-70%. However things went slowly downhill again to the point now ( after 4 yrs) I'm where I was when I started. I get up maybe 3x a night. Very discouraging and hard to understand why this happens..I'd love for a Urologist to explain.. Would I do it again? Ugh. Doesn't seem worth it for a 1 yr reprieve...but I had no other choice other than the super invasive surgical cutting of the prostate...NEVER doing that.

Hello! I read your message about the urolift. I am writing you to get the word out about this procedure. It is a very sad story but if I can save one man from going through what my father went through it will be worth it. My dad was diagnosed with an enlarged prostate in the fall of 2019. The urolofist NEVER performed a biopsy to see if he had cancer. He had the urolift performed as he was completely blocked. It partially helped but dad continued to have problems. He had another urolift procedure in February of 2020. In May of 2020, he had a regular physical and his alkaline phosphatase was extremely high. I will fast forward through some testing he had to determine why it was elevated and the bone scan revealed he had hot spots everywhere. A PSA test was performed that day and it was 33. He was referred to an Oncologist where she told my dad he likely had stage 4 prostate cancer. He had a hip biopsy done and it came back prostate cancer. My dad had bone cancer in his hips, both femurs, both upper arms, jaw, sternum, ribs and pelvis. He started hormonal therapy (Lupron) and another med that starts with a "c". In July of 2021, he found out he had liver metastasis. He started Xtandi but it was brutal. He then started chemo in January of 2022 but unfortunately died on May 18, 2022. I believe that the urolift procedure spread my dad's cancer all over his body. It was probably like a gunshot wound through the prostate that hit the cancer and sent it all over my dad's body. I beg any man who is considering the urolift procedure to demand a biopsy of your prostate first before having the procedure. It would be a very wise decision. Thank you for letting me share my story about my dad.

In a nutshell, no. It's as though the wizard is saying "Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain". I'm pushing 73. I talk to a lot of old timers. And just guess what we talk about.
No one, has anything good to say about any prostate procedure except the industry itself. Negative implications just seem non existent in the media. But some of the stories I've heard in the park from other 73's are out of the twilight zone. I've been to 3 urologists and 2 primary care. I am convinced they are clueless. It's either Tamsulosin or surgery. They are reading from the same script.
I have found, in my extensive research, that BPH symptoms can be caused by a number of problems stemming from other parts of the body. Once they can justify surgery according to the parameters set up by god, they go for it without exploring any other possibility. When you walk into a urologist, your not a patient, you're a prospect. The decision to have prostate surgery for BPH Symptoms is always made out of pain and fear. Ask yourself, did the Urologist consult with your Neurologist to see if a nerve in your spine or abdomen might be a cause for your nocturia? Did he communicate and discuss with your cardiologist concerning blood flow? Has he even met your primary? Unless he asks these questions (and I don't mean on a form that you filled out in the waiting room), he doesn't really give a hoot about all. Once you are good and frightened and confused he'll just say, NEXT!
By the way, I live in South Florida. It's an entire world of enlarged prostates. It's a gold mine. A urologist (nationwide) sees an average of 70 patients a week in addition to surgery and etc. My mechanic cant fix 70 cars in a week.

It has only been four days since my procedure, but I can tell you it has been pure hell very painful with a little relief in between.
My bladder spasms are really bad after urination

Well, I am writing this because my dad is no longer with us. He sadly passed away on May 18, 2022, from prostate cancer. He went to see a Urologist because he was unable to urinate. The doctor told him he had BPH. The Uro lift procedure was performed and dad only got slight relief from the procedure. He went back and had another Uro lift procedure done 4 months. He had complications from the procedure. He was passing blood clots and having severe abdominal pain. Well, in May of that same year dad had a physical and his alkaline phosphatase was extremely elevated. Upon further testing, it was determined he had stage 4 prostate cancer. He had cancer in his hips, ribs, sternum, legs, upper arms, spine, mandible. It was everywhere. A biopsy was done, and it proved to be a slow growing cancer, called adenocarcinoma. The urologist never performed a biopsy which obviously should have been done. His prostate was much larger than normal and looking back the Uro lift should have never been performed because apparently size matters when doing this procedure. Anyway, we found out the cancer spread to my dad's liver in July of 2021. He died on May 18, 2022. I firmly believe the Uro lift spread the cancer all over my dad's body. How does a slow growing cancer spread that fast? He had 12 clips in his prostate. It is too late now but a biopsy should have been done and a biopsy should be mandatory before this procedure is ever done on anyone. I am so heartbroken over the loss of my dad. He was the best dad any daughter could ever ask for and was truly my hero. I love and miss him so much!!! He found so very hard but lost the battle in the end. He should have died with prostate cancer and not from it. Please be very careful with this procedure and if you decide to have it done, I beg you get a biopsy first. I can't bring my dad back but if I can help one man not go through what my dad did it will be worth it.

Youtube has many positive reviews - presented by Sunrise Urology and Urolift with staged guests. Good luck in finding Youtube reviews directly from patients not sponsored by companies. Just check the general internet for honest reviews directly from patients.

I had a Urolift procedure in July 2022 and was then diagnosed with Prostate Cancer in April 2023. My specialist did not know if I could receive Brachytherapy now. He has gone away to find out, but that was 9 months ago and no one seems to be able to confirm one way or the other.
Can anyone out there help with the answer to this?

I am now 4 months post urolift. I am off meds and am urinating the best I have in my life. Now I did also have my bladder neck snipped to make a little more room. The recovery was insanely hard as some of these comments mentioned. You pee razor blades for the first week and pass clots often. This happens for about 2 weeks depending on how much water you drink. For me it's been worth it since I'm off all the meds and have had no sexual side effects after the urolift installation.

The Urolift is not for every one and it also depends on the doctor that is doing it. I had mine almost 11 years ago and I'm still open. No side effect either. It is a good procedure.
