I did a lot of checking on-line and looked at many reviews about urolift but found nothing.  The only thing that concerns me is that it has not been around for any length of time.  When I asked my Dr about it he seemed very negative about it.  Its easy to find everybody raving about the system I am looking for negative if there is any.  Bruce

I had the Urolift surgery done in June 2014. It was done in Houston Texas by a doctor at Methodist Hospital.

I can say after these 8 months that i have not had any improvement. I saw the before and after photos of my prostrate and was amased at the difference. it looked as there should have been total relief but sadly there was no change.

When you say you did not have any change, what were your original symptoms? Are you now able to fully empty your bladder more quickly? Is the sense of urination urgency reduced? Did you have any long term post surgical discomfort or pain? I am considering this procedure, please advise.

6/22/15 Houston -- No change in my situation. Still get up 3-5 times at night, still need drugs just to do that.

Very much the same story with me.

I am at 5 months and if I did not remember being in the hospital on 2/28/18 I would say nothing has been done. It was going to be the greatest thing since sliced bread----total BS.

Really hoping it's only because just over 3 weeks since urolift but so far no change at all with urgency to go to the toilet after any drinks and mainly drink water. I drink a glass and not long after needing to go urgently and often. Sleep still disrupted up to 3x throughout the night which is the biggest annoyance and that is with being VERY careful in limiting drinking before a couple hours before bed and at most small sips.

That's the massive negative as really hoped to get better sleep. The positive is sex has improved which is great as was suffering with ED which is actually a massive deal for me as would think for any male. That and less of the stop and start peeing.

Like I said, only just over 3 weeks but seemed to be healing quickly. Going to be one very happy bunny if the urgency changes and actually able to drink a full glass of water and not rapidly needing a toilet. .Hope this helps, but do know one thing, no chance at the age of 57, was I going for TURPS as no going back after that bad boy.

I had a urology 1 year ago, today I went to urologist after having issues for 6 months he finally ran a scope up my penis and the urolift has collapsed I have to have it removed and a TURP done, I find very strange that I can’t gind anything negative about this procedure, something smells fishy.

I had urolift procedure 5 days ago. It has been the worst experience I ever had. My symptoms went from bad to worse. Urinating is extremely slow, only dripping with help of double dose of flomax. Amount of urine voided is extremely small. Burning and pain is excruciating. I cannot leave the house because urgency is immediate and very often. I cannot go to work or do anything. Still have blood in my urine. As for sex, forget that. I cannot even imagine sex in the condition that I am. This procedure turned me from a normal man to a cripple. Do yourself a favor, stay away from this procedure is you still want to have a normal life.

I had a UroLift procedure one month ago. Immediately after leaving the surgicenter, I was voiding a lot of clots and my urine was bright red. Within a few hours, I was having to force clots out as well as having severe bladder spasms. The pain was unbearable. This went on for two days until I couldn't urinate at all. I had to go the the emergency room and catheterized with a large catheter in order to irrigate the clots out. This was more painful than anything I had ever experienced. Two days later, in spite of frequent irrigating of the catheter, it too plugged up. Another trip to the ER. Extreme pain and spasms requiring strong pain meds. After 10 hours in the ER, and inability to irrigate, the urologist finally took me back to the OR where he evacuated a unit of clotted blood and and cauterized multiple bleeding sites. He had to place an even larger catheter for continuous irrigation. I was released the next afternoon and had to keep the catheter in for another week. This was extremely painful until pulled. I had another episode of clots that caused obstruction a few days later, but was able to push them out. I still had some blood in my urine for another few days. Now, after 4 weeks, I still get up at night every 2-3 hours. Urinating is very painful and my stream is worse than ever.

My doctor had a negative reaction when I asked about Urolift.  He said there had been problems with infection.  Also mentioned that it may be much more problematic removing the device, than implanting it....if needed.

Question, were you originally on blood thinners and then off them before the surgery? I was not on any meds other than potassium citrate. I had the procedure 2 days ago August 5, 2020, and also had to go to ER for blood clots. First called the doctor before leaving and he had me remove catheter and still could not void 5 hours after surgery. Bladder clogged. At ER they put in 3 way catheter so they could flush bladder out. 3 nurses to hold me down to get in in. Stayed 5 hours until urine clear and they flushed 2 more times and sent me home with saline flush if needed. Next morning called doctor office before going in for follow up to check if bladder is emptying. He had me remove the 3 way catheter to see if void. Did so after 10 minutes. Stream seemed regular at first. Urine pink but did ok. Peed two more times before going to doctor office. Urgency to pee is very strong and immediate but free of clots and clear. Voiding 3 ounces every time I go. Buts its just the 3rd day. When they checked the day after surgery they said 3 ounces was residual in the bladder so 50/50 on voiding amounts and residuals. and that was normal after first day of surgery. Genital area swollen so have inflammation. Stream is weaker than was "normal" but steady and not hard to start due to sever immediate urgency.but wondering if due to inflammation. Did not have urgency before. They put me on Flowmax for 5 days, but cannot stay on that as joint pain was side effect to having taken it in past and why having this procedure. I'm wondering if the procedure collapsed partly or wholly due to ER catheter without using pain killer before inserting or my stream is just weal due to inflammation. My original symptoms before was getting up 1 or 2 times a night but more during allergy season for 5 months due to taking antihistamines. During the day i was ok. No problems starting or stopping, and no issues urgency. Needed the sleep at night. Plan to have another "consultation" with doctor after getting off Flowmax to see what stream and urgency symptoms do and how overall symptoms are. I have questions to ask if results not as good as original condition or if worse. Questions like could have ER catheter have caused a collapse of the procedure and if so can he verify with pictures if that is so. If so can it be re-done. He originally told me it could when I asked and also told me that the other procedures can be performed after this one if it was determined those were the better options. I wonder why, besides cost and user ease, why they don't use the 3 way catheters like they use for TURP and laser prostate surgeries instead of the one way out flow catheter. I would not have this problem if my bladder was irrigated after he completed surgery and inserted catheter, and/or irrigated myself after surgery if needed. I know the 3 way are bigger but it did not feel any more uncomfortable that the Foley catheter.I'm wondering if these negative posts were posted some place else or here with a topic heading of "Negative reviews and results with Urolift surgeries." It would probably get better hits on internet searches that a way instead of "My Doctor is very negative about Urolift surgery...."
