I am a 15 year old boy and just recently to the doctors to get this checked out. The doctor said that in puberty, estrogen and testosterone are released. So, the hurt feeling is a release of estrogen in the nipples. But I have noticed some adults are getting this same problem so I do not know whats wrong with you adults.

I'm 50 and have had that pain in my right nipple for a month or so.  Doctor said not to worry just stop touching it.  The it appeared under my left one.  Now the right pain is gone and the left is very tender to touch (pain wise).  I notice only when I turn in bed onto my left side and the bed presses against my chest.  I did some research about how pain there may indicate liver cancer.  Well I've had a colonoscopy recently and five polypscut out.  My doctor says I have fatty liver.  Maybe there is a connection with my weight & drinking alcohol - I've had pancreatitis once that I know of last year.

I have a problem with my right nipple and it feels exactly the opposite to what yours may feel like, it's like there's something just underneath my nipple, perfectly shaped to fit! I know it sounds weird but it hurts when pressure is applied too.

I have the same thing I am 12 years of age.

Symptoms: Some runners, usually men, get chaffed or bleeding nipples, which can be extremely painful.

Causes: When men run, their nipples are constantly rubbing against their shirt. Over the course of a run (especially a long one), this sensitive area can be rubbed to the point of bleeding. Because women wear tight-fitting sports bras, this shouldn't be an issue for them.

Prevention: Some men learn the hard way how painful it can be, but it's actually very easy to avoid that problem. Generously apply a lubricant like Vaseline or BodyGlide to the nipple area before a long run and you should be fine. Some men will also wear products such as Nip Guards or Band-aids to protect the nipples. Also, for longer runs, make sure that you wear a synthetic-material (Dri-Fit, not cotton) shirt closest to your body. Cotton shirts will cause chafing. Women should make sure their sports bras are not cotton. For longer runs, both men and women should also apply Body Glide or Vaseline to any areas where there may be rubbing (inner thighs, under arms) to avoid chafing.
