My husband had gall bladder surgery which lasted, like 4.5 hrs., due to 100's of gallstones falling into his body while gall bladder was being removed.  Strange that these didn't show up on xray.  Anyway, they spilled around, takinig the dr. many hrs. of picking them out of his system.  Yes, this was done laparoscopically.   The situation was enhanced due to pancreatitis as well...excuse my spelling and typing errors please. :}  They had to get the pancreatitis under control prior to the operation.

He has nerve pain like crazy all over.  We have been in and out of drs. offices time and time again trying to figure this out.  He has been so uncomfortable.  He had weight loss of 40 lbs., depression, and over all nerve tingling.

So, we are still searching for answers.

Anyone else having same situation?

Yes! I too have this pain. I got my gallbladder removed in May 2012 and the same thing is going on ever since the surgery. There have been times where there hasn't been anything for a couple weeks and then it just comes right back so I have no idea if it's my diet or something I'm doing or not doing. But I have the same problems: I cannot stretch, I cannot breathe without it feeling like a stab wound Around my ribs and also up on my right shoulder in the front. My life has also been slowed down. I am only 30 and I am a budding actress and singer and I can't do certain things for my career that I would like to because I'm just too much pain. Just today my family wanted to go visit a museum and I couldn't even partake Because the pain is beyond distracting. I am very sad. Please get in touch with me. If you have stumbled upon anything that can help or if you just want support. I also think that this might be nerve pain from the laparoscopic surgery. I'm currently researching a Dr. Lee Dellon from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore on the subject.

Wow! Finally people I can relate too. I have been going out of my mind with this problem. I had been to a&e and to my gp atleast 10 times before I was finally diagnosed with gallstones. When I eventually had it removed I was so excited at the fact that I migt beable to get back to nomal as I was only 21, learning to drive an trying for a baby for 2 years prior with my fiance. But ever since the operation I have had servere pain from the middle of the sternum and all the way down the right side of my ribs. It has ruined my life an turned it absolutley upside down, I used to be such a bubbly young woman that loved trying new things and having fun, but now I am terrified to walk to the shop around the corner as it cripples me an I have people stare at me from afar as I now have to walk like a crippled old woman holding onto my side like I have been stabbed, it has destroyed the girl I used to be and has been replaced by a fragile old crippled and depressed woman that friends barely recognise. I had my operation 4 months ago an this is what the doctors have done to me, I don't know how I will go on, as no meds are helping and even after being told it is nerve damage, doctors are still not being anymore urgent about it and they are basically just leaving me to be in constant pain everyday. My work have been extremely supportive but I don't think they will take it fr much longer an now I have the extra stress of being on the verge of being fired, many days I just wish they would never have removed my gall bladder, it has made everything 100x worse with no way of going back as they don't have a cure an so they don't really have time to mess about with you. Just makes you feel so alone and scared that the rest of my life will be spent in extreme pain that causes me to be fearful of the most simplest of tasks an that I will never get better, an than people will run out of patience and I could end up losing everything and everyone I love. I just hope people who do have this procedure, I hope yours is a success as I would not wish this upon my worse enemy. Thanks for the opportunity to tell my story hope everyone is better xx

Hello Ruby, yes I have had exactly the same pain problem after surgery it has been hell!
How are you doing now? I do hope you have been able to relieve this insidious pain. I take DHC codeine it is the only drug that takes the pain away and I am able to live semi-normal life again so there is hope. I do however suffer side effects of lethargy daily due to the codeine but can only say that it has saved my life as the pain previously was unbearable.

My gallbladder was removed in 1996 and I have had nothing but pain ever since them.  I had 6 gallstones with 2 that had fused together.  I don;t know where ther was room for them to be there was so many and they were so large!!  I have had nothing but problems ever since my gallbladder was taken out.  Terrible pain and disconfort.  Intestional issues and diarrrhea is with me all the time.  The pain never goes away.  I know there is other damage but nnot sure where the damage is coming from.  The colonscopy each time has diagnosed me with microscopic colitis which is worse than having gallbladder attacks because I am in constant pain, afraid to eat when I am so hungry, constant intestional pain, constant stomach pain.  Finaly I had back surgery after my bladder totally prolapsed due to all the diarrhea and now that is also adding to the misery.  I completely think that laproscopic surgeries are definitely not the way to go to have anyone'[s gallbaldder taken out.  There has been for me and others too much pain afterward.  Something about the laproscopic surgery leaves damage.  I amm a living example  It has been 18 years and the problem has becoe worse the older I get.  It just never goes away.  If I had it to do over would neer have had laproscopic gallbladder surgery but gone the old route and had them cup me open to take out my gallbladder.  Everyone who has their gallbladder out the old fashioned way seems to fare better afterward.  I hate to burst your bubble for everyone I read about here but thingns just wil not get better.  I felt worse after the surgery than before.  Felt as though, as 18 years afterward, like I had a low grade fever.  That is when the diarrhea started and it has never stopped sincne then.  I definitely think something was damaged during my surgery but back then thought only that I needed more time to heal.  Over the years it has just continuallly gotten worse.  Like something else may have caused the gallbladder issue?    Who knows!!!  Pease know that you are not alone.  It has been 18 years for me and things just get worse since surgery.  At least before surgery I could eat and not have diarrhea but not any longer.  I live this way every  sinngle day of my life and it is a horrible way to live.  You all are not alone.  Please know there are others out there who are feeling as bad as you.  My prayers are with you all,  Just know that I definitely think that unless and even if, a doctor is good, the laproscopic way of removing one's gallbladder leaves way too much room for error.  Tell everyone not to have their gallbladder out with laproscopic but the old fashioned way.  Damage is definitely done and is does not go away.  Nothing else to do except stay on painn pills.  The way I look at something is that I don't care what the name of the medicine is or what it is, if it works then take it.  No person in our country shold be hurting needlessly no matter what it takes.  Anyone's gallbladder laproscopically removed causes permanent damage somewhere in your body.  Nothing else to be said.  Oh by the way it was AFTER my gallbladder was removed in the two years after, was when the doctors decided to diagnose me with Celiac Disease.  I surely did not have it before the gallbladder surgery because before the surgery I could eat anything and never had diarrhea so I find that diagnosis very hard to believe and going gluten free has still not cured the pain or the diarrhea.

I have just had the surgery myself. And while it has only been one week since surgery, I don't appear to be getting any better. I was hospitalized for 3 days post op for excruciating pain and was mainly kept on IV pain killers. All tests came back normal but I still can't breathe without pain, never mind coughing sneezing or laughing. Pain includes a sharp one in my right collar bone area every time I inhale. Pain where my gallbladder was also. I fear permanent nerve damage and disability.

I had been suffering from the same problem, after my cholecystectomy laparoscopy in May 2012. I am under the care of Mr Michael Platt. He is working in NHS at the Imperial College. He also attend private patients at the Platinum Centre Wellington Hospital. I recommend him as one of the best doctor for this type of pain. He has helped me to recovery for some period. This pain won't go away in one treatment but will go for some weeks and you can enjoy a normal life while it last. I hope I can help, because your stories are exact as mine, I could be the person who wrote those lines.
