I had mine out in 2010 and the pain still comes on randomly..I'm guessing diet and am working on finding out just what. I was told to try a Chiro and to have my Thorac #4 worked on. It's been 5 years and I'm knocked out completely at times..like once a month or so. It's ruining my life like many of you. It's the exact same as described. It's like a red hot sword sticking under my right shoulder. I've been to surgeons, PT, other Chiro, x-rays on my shoulder, and 2 other Dr.s. I'm looking for an Acupuncturist in my area.

Rubygirl, I'm having the exact same problems as you. I just had the surgery in May 2015, what's happening with you?

I had my gall bladder removed in Dec 2013. I am still having the right rib cage pain coming around to my back. I have been receiving pain injections about every 6 weeks to 2 months for over a year now. the pain specialist says it takes time to heal the nerves that were damaged. I am getting impatient. The injections help a little and relieve the pain but I do not want to have to do this for the rest of my life. The injections are painful but short pain thankfully. I read these comments and makes me sick to my stomach thinking 5 years after surgery I could still feel this way. I take Gabapentin for nerves, pain patches, pain reliever cream, ibuprofen, and tried tens unit. I thought after surgery I would feel better. Prayers are my best treatment at this time. I will keep you all in my prayers as well. Hopefully one of us can find a solution soon.

I had the same thing. I had to have a second surgery to fix it. The doctor damaged your nerve and it needs to be taken out and replaced with another one from a dead cadaver.

I am having similar problems and afterdodoing some Google searching there's a lot of people who have this problem after this surgery. I am in so much pain right now and have been trying to figure out an answer I have a great doctor who I trust completely and we have tried an ultra sound and blood work and of course came back fine. I am so frustrated with this constant pain. Is there some kind of test to determine if this is nerve damage??

I have this nerve pain. Very glad to find some others with the stabbing pain I describe as a sword in my side. I am trying a topical treatment of gabapentine + other components prescribed by a pain specialist. Also trying a nerve stimulator. I have been in agony for five years. Seen the surgeon and every other relevant doctor. It's helpful to find this validation. Bless all of you. I feel your pain.

If you are in the US, can you tell me where you had this done? With gratitude,

I had my gallbladder removed almost a year ago, and am experiencing the exact same thing. I have had many tests, and they have all been negative, with the results as "nerve damage." It seems to slowly be improving, but has definitively changed my life. I keep praying that it will heal....seems like it's all I can do.

I had pain for years after GB removal, also developed duct stones 10 years later after taking a proton pump.. Had to have 3 surgeries in one year to remove the stones (two diff ER dr.'s told me stop taking proton pump, which I did , but GP disagreed. No more stones now, but still had pain, a specialist said damaged nerves (after all those procedures, not surprised.) However my point is I was given morphine, dilaudid, variety of pills to stop the pain, did not work. FINALLY diagnosed nerve pain and gave me Nortriptyline. Pain is gone. The first day I had no pain, after 15 years , was indescribable. That med was developed for something else, but they found it works with this type of nerve pain. Best of luck in your search.

There is no cure. Pain meds are the only thing that takes my pain to a level where I'm not screaming. I had gall bladder surgery 21 yes ago and the pain has been unbearable every since. I've been to John Hopkins and had every block, stimulator etc. They told me I will never b pain free. It cost me my life, my marriage and my job. I'm on disability. I'm really angry the drs want to pretend this doesn't happen often. And the pain drs are terrified to prescribe the amount of meds we need. This has ruined my life but I try to fight every day to enjoy the smallest things. I pray All of us and hope one day there will b a cure. God Bless eveeyone in awful pain.

Since my gallbladder removal a year ago my life has gone to hell I've had nothing but excruciating pain under my right rib been stuck on strong pain meds and had 10 emergency visits to hospital my bloods for liver and pancreas have been high but not high enough for a defident answer I've had a operation for sod which did nothing and am now waiting to see what my specialist will do next. I've lost my job because I can't do anything at all. My partner is just as drained as me and we need answers nerve damage hasn't even been explored yet which I find strange as I have a secondary pain which is neat the incision but not as bad gets worse with pressure. Any help or a reply from someone the same would be great. Andrew australia

Sounds like we all have the same symptoms. I have been dealing with this for 3 years now. No solution, but I did buy a TENS unit to help with the pain. Usually when the pain becomes intolerable in my back I put on pad on the GB scare and the other near my right rib. Turn it on and its like a light switch and the pain is gone in my back gone. I have mentioned this several times to different Dr's I have seen over the last 3 years. So far, this seems like the only solution for temporary relief. ***edited by moderator*** web addresses not allowed
