I am having the same problem. The pain after the lap chilly was extreme. The has moderated but not gone. I lie down a lit but can't stretch. Coughing, yawning and stretching all aggravate the pain. I walk around holding the area under my right rib to support it but can't walk any distance.

Clearly a nerve is involved, because it often feels as if the skin on a large area of my abdomen has a severe sunburn.

I too had my gallbladder out two years past and began having pain. My pain wakes me in the night some nights and puts me in a fetal position. I asked the doctor if the gallbladder grew back. He laughed. Not funny when you think removing a organ that isn't functioning can cause so many more problems. It has been living heck ever since.
After reading these posts I am convinced to let my doctor go back in and take a closer look. Have had one nerve block and am not hesitant about going back. Can't take many medications due to thyroid issues so I will follow up with both doctors. Thank you so much for sharing your stories. God Bless!

On July 3, 2013, my life changed forever as I had GB surgery and came out of a long post-op with a burning in the middle of my chest that eventually extended around my entire torso. After 3 months of hell lying on the couch and not working, I have had a long road to feeling a little better...at least to the point where I can work. My treatment began with cremes and TENS and Tramadol and Gabapentin. I am now 55. My worst pain to this day, after all of the experimental locations of having ablations is my back. It is extremely sensitive and if I lean against a hard chair forget it. Exercise also exites the nerves and I pay for it for a day or two after. At this point I have pillows in my car, work, home, everywhere. I even take a pillow on the airplane to help me because the seats just keep getting harder and smaller. I am working yes but it is very hard and at the end of most days I am drained...but as I read here I am one of the lucky ones because of my work situation and my pain doctor. I have had countless ablations and therapies and now take Gabapentin and Tramodol 4 times a day each. TENS and hot showers also help. The best thing to do is to GET HELP right away. After that is to find a pain doctor who won't give up and who will work with you until you find the ablation locations that work best. He worked like heck to help me and I know he did some ablations for free...no doubt. For me, it is a set of 4 ablations down my right side in a straight line...about mid/lower rib high...that seem to turn off the bad nerve pathways for about 6 to 8 months. Don't give up. Keep experimenting. I am now to the point where I think I can live again and do not want to kill myself, but like many of you, my marriage did not survive this.

Doctors don't take responsibility for their mistakes and nerve damage is a mistake. They just carry on their day and dont give a brass razzu about their complaining patients. They cannot feel it so it doesnt concern them

You have helped me more then you will ever know. I have had surgery after surgery and probe and colonoscopy and endoscopy and everything you can imagine after having my gall bladder removed. It burns and stings and feels like I've been shot with a lit arrow on my right side below my ribs. I just googled tonight because I am at the END of my rope!!! I'm going to ask my Dr about this CRPS. I also have MS I was diagnosed in 2007. I really can't take much more. Thank YOU for sharing!!!

I'm just looking this up as a last result. As terribly sad as it is to see people with the same predicament I am no longer feeling alone or crazy!!!

What kind of Doctor can do this type of surgery? I've been dealing with my pain for 2 years, and the doctors all tell me there is nothing wrong. That it's a phantom pain and all "in my head". Just went to the ER last night and they told me to try a GI doctor to check for ulcers, which I already did. They gave me a "GI cocktail" which is supposed to take the pain away temporarily if it's an ulcer. It didn't help at all.

I had my gallbladder removed 2 years ago November 20th 2014 and have been complaining about this pain on my right side just under the ribs for 2 years 2 years. I went back to my doctor and he said it was in my head and to go out and buy the book called The Mind-body prescription. Said I would thank him. Well to this day I still have pain and it's very difficult to move too much during the day. I've been to doctor after doctor and this is the first I've had heard of nerve damage. It didn't even occur to me. What what should I do? See a lawyer? I'm so pissed off right now. I'm so glad that I read your post. But it still doesn't solve my problem

my younger brother had his removed 2 years ago at age 17, has gone through different doctors, where they blamed one thing to another. At the Pain Management Clinic they are saying it was the surgery that left the only incision sensitive. They have offered to numb the pain. Well better than being in pain and taking medicine that only helps for a while. The thing is will this ever go away? or is there something that needs to be done? He's wasted 2 years with doctors and not being able to enjoy life, go to school or get a job.

Finally I hear the same problem that I have. Pain on the right side just below the breast bone. It radiates up to my shoulder and across my back. My endocrinologist says he doesn't know what I'm talking about all of my tests come back normal. I have been researching the vagus nerve and it seems to verify my symptoms. Planning to talk to my doctor about it. There are breathing and physical exercises that seem to help.

By the way, I had my gall bladder removed in 2010 and always wondered why the pain never stopped. Doctors look at me like I'm crazy. The doctor that did my operation prides himself on being so fast.

I had my gall bladder surgically removed in March 2016. Ever since that time I have had sharp, hot poker like pains one inch below the surgical site and approx two inches from ostomy.
Surgeons did X-rays, ultrasounds and nothing can explain the pain. The surgeon did say it could be a severed nerve. He said the pain can eventually deminish or coukd go on for years or a lifetime. I've tried medications, Acupuncture and also had a Spinal Cord Stimulator implanted in my back which has stopped working from the time I had my gall bladder removed and lost almost 20 lbs.
Is there anyone else with this pain out there and are there any suggestions as what would be my next plan of attack?
