Hi All,
I am writing b/c I am extremely concerned. I had my period right before I had my total thyroidectomy for thyroid cancer. I haven't had another period since. Now its October and been almost 4 whole months. Is this normal? Has anyone else experienced this?
I had surgery in July, high dose radiation the end of August, and started my thyroid supplement the very beginning of Sept.
I have been having discharge very often. It sometimes feels like its the beginning of my period, but its not. I'm not pregnant b/c I've had several HPT done and a blood test at the doctor. (The wouldn't do the high-dose radiation treatment without negative results.) Any feedback would be great! Thanks.

Hi!
I'm not sure but i think the problem is not related to the thyroidectomy.
I had mine taken off and 4 days later, i got my period 'cause i was not taking hormones (i would do radiation soon and had to stay without hormones).
Maybe you are facing some problem with hormones and its doses...
In every case, i suggest you talk to as many doctors you need to find out.
Talk to one, talk to two... You have the right to take care of your life. If you are not calm, see other docs.

I had my whole thyroid out 4 weeks ago. I should've gotten my period this week and it hasn't come. I'm due for radioactive iodine in 3 weeks. is it common to miss a period because of the hormone meds?
