Cut the carbs out and give up sugar and soda.  I lost 25 pounds after I had novasure.  Life is great not bleeding all the time.   In regards to weight gain I have a friend who gained some weight but then cut the carbs and is down 30 pounds now so I am not sure what to say on the weight gain other than re evaluate what you eat and stop white bread sugar and eat lot''s of veggies and fruits.  Pounds start dropping off then you will want to stick to eating healthy.

I had the procedure done in March of 2014 and have since gained nearly 25 lbs.  No changes to diet or exercise, but it now seems that my metabolism has entirely come to a screeching halt.  I have no regrets about having the procedure, after winding up in the ER with extremely heavy bleeding and passing huge clots for a month+, but now I am paying the price with my weight.  I eat no sugar and don't drink soft drinks and am trying my best to cut down on the carbs.  Never in the past 10 years has my weight fluctuated over 3 lbs up or down, so this is a major change for me.  Going for my first well woman exam since before my procedure this week, so I am hoping my GYN has some ideas as to what is causing this.

Wow! I see it's not only me struggling with fighting weight gain! I eat right and still gain! I'm so frustrated. I had the surgery in 2003 and has struggled to not be obese. I lose weight but gain it back if I look at food! My size 10 are too tight so I'm back on a strict diet and exercise regime. I never struggled with my weight. The procedure was a success, I don't have a period at all but that can't be healthy and could cause weight gain as well. I don't recommend it!!! I don't know what to do besides starve! I cry daily because I don't over eat or eat bad but weight gain happens anyways!

I had never had a problem with my weight until I had this procedure. Now I have had Steady weight gain since I had the procedure 2 yrs ago. All in my mid section, feel like I am carrying a spare tire around my waist

I 100% agree with you. Do not recommend this to anyone!!! this lack of energy and weight gain is so depressing.. I even emailed my doctors office and gave them Hell for this and for lying. I got the same c**p answer that this does not cause weight gain.

Im sorry to hear this....... I had my ablation surgery 5 months ago & have had no issues at all other than wearing a panty liner for 4 out of 5 months & still having a monthly period....... much much lighter (no need for more than a panty liner) but thought my period days would be long gone........... at a hundred pounds I Wish I had gotten t weight gain rather than having to wear a panty liner for 5 months.......

I had mine done 2 years ago. NEVER had a problem with weight or lethargy. Now, I can't do anything to stop the weight that is gaining in my belly. It's horrible. Not only that but my periods are pretty much back to as painful as they were before, so this was a very poor choice for me. If I could go back 2 years and 25 pounds, I would not have this done again.

I am beside myself with depression over the weight i have gained after this procedure. Especially, since I was an obese teen and lost nearly 100 lbs, kept it off after 2 pregnancies and looked fabulous. I was promised that i would not gain weight with this procedure from 2 physicians and several OB nurses. I was told that it will in no way affect my hormonal levels because i will still cycle - just not bleed. I also, don't recognize my own body anymore and just want to hide. I have changed the way I work out and even thought I was already exercising like a physical trainer and eating a basically perfect diet - I tried different techniques. A uterine ablation is a calculated risk! Do not allow Dr.'s to tell you it is not life altering...unless you don't mind gaining between 15-40 lbs.

This is not true. I replied to a message and included that I'm a physical trainer...trust me, i'm not eating unhealthy and I can do 30 burpees in under a minute so...don't lump your success at dodging the bullet on weight gain in with those who over-eat and don't exercise. BTW...congratulations! I'm glad you don't have to go through was about 80% of us are going through.
