I'm male, 58 years old. I got hit with this back in 2001. It came out of nowhere. I always thought it was a viral or bacterial thing but nothing would stop it. Mine is very cyclical, typically about a month. There would be a few days when I thought it's over and in about a week it would start again. About four months ago I saw something on the net that mentioned Coconut Oil was good for skin problems. Our super market has an organic section and there it was. It's available as "refined" which means it has no scent so is neutral to cook with. I don't cook much and didn't use oil for cooking but decided to add it to the breakfast routine when I fry my eggs. I added about a level teaspoon's worth to the Pam in the pan. In about a week I noticed results. Careful to not (again) think I was onto a cure I kept with it. I've been clear for MONTHS. I haven't tried it topically, only with food. My Partner's amazed at the results and I can again shake hands with people and not be embarrassed. So here's the small print. I'm not affiliated with any manufacturer or store chain. It may not work for everyone but hopefully, it will help someone like me that had given up. As most people here, I've been to several dermatologist's and talked to my own GP, getting no help.

I have the same issue , I have a solution that helps me that may sound crazy but it works , get jock itch cream and a plastic or latex glove and put the cream on your hand and then put the glove on and leave it over nite , it works for me, it causes it to peel and heal and it clears up for long periods , I was told it was a yeast type skin infection, hope it helps , thanks

Soak fingers in Colloidal Silver and swallow 2 oz of 20ppm a day, totally safe. You can make your own by buying a kit on Amazon for 49.00 and it is very seriously worth it. Also, soak in Vinegar, Salt Lemon, Baking Soda. Also, try some DMSO from a horse supply store and make sure that your hands are clean before using it. Learn about using it online. I cured mine and now fingers are just Numb from all the peeling for years on end. We will see if I get numbness to go away because there may be damage to nerves.

I had it on my toes too but I got rid of it by spraying Silver on my socks where my toes are and then wearing the soaked socks in my shoes.

I'm 54 and have had it for 30+ years. It started when I was wearing latex gloves all the time in dental field. Fingertip feel odd, numb, desensitized. It would annoy me so I'd pick at it then it would peel away with a dry layer of skin underneath that would flake off. Sometimes it would start along the side of my nail but usually right in the middle if the fingertip pad. I also would get skin peel back from underneath the nail but my feeling is thats unrelated to the fingertip "dry blister" issue. At first the new skin was so raw it would dry & crack and of course was painful. MOST of it went away when I stopped using gloves (vinyl or latex) with powder in them. Then I started using Tide Free or the like for laundry. I rarely have a problem now unless I wear gloves or work with strong detergents in bare hands. Seems to me like its some kind of contact dermatitis.

I have had similar problems for months with numbness in my fingers, peeling skin, rash on the insides of my palms. I have tried Aloe Vera plants, Cider Vinegar with water, garlic, ezcma creams, coconut oil, olive oil, clay, porridge and hot water etc., I suIspect though that we have all become more and more exposed to toxic chemicals in our food chain and in our environment with cleaning products and artificial additives put into just about everything we touch. I really think that the results of this has you starting to believe there is something wrong with you and your skin!!!! I think look to question everything your skin comes into contact with both externally and internally by the food and medication etc. you ingest. There may be a clue!

My symptoms started a month ago, hardening skin around my finger nails mainly my thumbs and right middle finger. Also numbness in six of my fingers. I have read all the posts here and it seems like there are a lot of people that have the problem but not hearing anybody talking about a cure. The word shingles came up a couple of times which stared to freak me out because I have just had two case of which seems like scratches on the back of my right leg. Is there anybody here that had the same issue with red sores on you legs or anywhere else? Also has anyone found out what it is yet?

Hi, I have been dealing with the peeling skin mainly on my left thumb, but alsoaffects my right thumb and both index fingers. I get thick hardening of the skin over my fingertips and then they crack and the skin peels in thick pieces leaving tender, sometimes painful raw skin underneath. I have read this can be a yeast problem and that it also can be an inflammatory autoimmune problem. I have an autoimmune thyroid condition and I know the food I eat greatly effects my symptoms. I also know that when I use splenda, it causes inflammation in my joints and causes any scars I have on my body to turn bright red...so I don't usually use it. I have been usin splenda the past month out of convienience, and this has been the longest and worst case of the peeling thumb. I finally put 2 and 2 together and stopped using splenda in my coffee 2 days ago. The red new skin has turned pink and the peeling has stopped. In.2.days. this may no be everyone's solutiin, but it seems to have worked for me. I did find another post on a different site abut another woman who cut splenda out of her diet and resolved her peeling fingers. It was from 2005 and she said everyone thought she was crazy for making that connection. Sometimes the crazy ones are right. :)
Good luck in your healing.

I have peeling fingertips on my right hand only and mostly affecting my smallest 2 fingers. I am wondering if getting my nails done at a salon have anything to do with it? I have acrylics added on top of my nails. If it is the cause, then why did ny all my fingers have this? I have psoriasis anyway and it was pretty well controlled until this happened. We are changing my biologic from Humira to Cosentyx.

Same symptoms. Apparently inherited from grandma and mum. My mum tried everything and her hands almost never properly healed. It just goes from horrible to kinda good. Dermatologists don't have a clue. Through her trial and error from like a dozen doctors it seems 0.1% tacrolimus ointment works, alongside high doses of vitamin B complex. At least that works for me, heals it in about 10 days. I get it 1-3x every year (since I was 25, now I'm 32), thought it was stress related but now it appears randomly. Always on thumb, index and or middle/ring.

My ring finger on my right hand is also doing this, but there's no fluid. It feels numb, but I have feeling and it's peeling in layers now. It's painful. I am also a guitar player. I use a pick, but I also finger pick and this is a problem! If I find something that works, I'll let you know.

The best results I have had with mine is by elimination diet although it is really very tough to achieve the way the food industry is set up now. Basically I followed a full AIP diet then reintroduced foods as and when. Eating out is a nightmare but I can generally get a meat and salad option.

My hands also do much better if I eat plenty of protein. I'm not talking huge amounts but more of a exercise enthusiasts 1g per 1lb of bodyweight type target.

I've recently got back into freestyle bmxing and that seems to be causing issues through having really tight forearms from holding on to the bars too.
