Omg. I recently went to the ER for this and I had the same exact symptoms and concerns that you had. I went on Nov. 16 2014 to the ER because I was sick for about 2 weeks before that with what felt like the flu. One day I was laying in bed and felt a sharp pain on the lower left side of my head close to my neck. It became hard to breathe and my heart started to pound like crazy. That was the first time so i went to the hospital. They checked me out and did a ton of blood and heart tests and I came back clear. The ER doc said my wbc was at 24 and i had a viral infection. Over the next few days more symptoms appeared and i went to my pcp doctor for more tests. They found that whatever infection I had, ive had it before. Ive never had heart or lung issues. I am a 28 year old female. I was 27 when this all started. Ive experienced heart palpatations that happened everyday for almost 2 weeks that lasted 20 minutes each, chest pain, a pulling/stabbing feeling at the base of my tongue and down my throat. It was hard to eat for over a week. I had swollen lymph nodes in my neck, my tonsils hurt, i had diarrhea for almost 2 weeks, i had nosebleeds but not secere. 2 mornings about a week apart, i woke up and went to use the bathroom, i breathed in normally through my nose and i felt something odd in my throat. I took it out and it was an almost perfect square piece of white and red tissue. It was tough and thick. I thought i was going to die! Today I am still feeling crappy but not as bad and im tired of feeling like something is wrong. Ive gotten bad anxieties. So bad i cant go for a drive anywhere. When i get upset or angry even crying, my heart will start to feel like its on the verge of beating fast again. The only difference is that it doesnt get as far as it initially didI was tested for mono, bacterial and fungal infections, my kidneys and liver was checked, i had an xray on my chest that was fine and a ct scan on my throat that showed i had several swollen juggular lymp nodes and also showed my brain was fine. I was hooked up to a heart monitor and had my blood pressure and temperature watched in the ER for 9 hours. I am diabetic, asthma, fibromyalgia, back and arm injury. I just had a tiny bump appear in my right armpit and then 2 days later i have a swollen lymph node under my jaw on the right side. I have almost always had the right underarm lymph node appear once in a while since i started shaving in high school. Its usually larger and annoying. It always seems to appear the day after i shave. I have had no other lymph nodes act up except for recently. My doc said my tests for mono were negative and there didnt seem to be anything wrong and all i could do is drink tons of water and rest as much as i can. I keep thinking that maybe theres something either myself or my doctor is overlooking. I came across your post and felt kind of relieved that its not just myself that has these symptoms. I hope its nothing serious for either of us. Thank you for sharing!

I forgot to mention that i have allergies to smoke, dust, pollen, pets and certain chemicals. I am living with 4 smokers, 5 pets, and a very dusty bad smelling basement. The lymph node issues i am experienceing in my armpit and jaw are both on the right side and are singular. Nothing really ever happens on my left side except the heart pain/palpations. I am not weak. Im sleeping alot more now that i was told to rest. My only big worry is my heart issue that comes and goes. It has slowly gotten better. I know my body is sensitive and ive always been very in tune with my body and my meds. Maybe im just becoming super sensitive to my body due to extreme amounts of stress and depression alobg with my health issues?

I have had jaw pain, swollen lymph nodes, neck and body pains for 4 and 1/2 weeks. After 2 weeks I got what I thought was the flu. Now my nodes are about 2 inches on left ear and half that size on the other side. Teeth, lefdt jaw, other ear and body aches. I am on antibiotic but not feeling to much better. Don't touch it. I have blood work tomorrow in the am. Hope it is only a virus but I have become concerned. My Dr. will take care of me and I will let you know. Hold strong everyone because we are strong. Listen to your doctor but mostly to your gut. Work together and get in and ask for what ever tests you think you need. We are important and we work hard.Let me know how you are.

My lymph node on my right side under my jaw is the size of a ping pong ball, and it's super tender and I think I felt knot right behind it on the same side of my neck. I have horrible head aches and chills to. What should I do?

If one side of your gums is swollen, it could be that your molars are coming in. The second molar usually erupts (comes out of the gum) when you are 12-13 years old.

If that's the case, the pain or a minor infection caused by your molar(s) erupting could have made your lymph nodes swell.

A recent illness could cause swelling like that (a cold or a sore throat).

If it continues being an issue, have an adult take you to a doctor and get her/his opinion.

Lymphoma frequently does NOT show up in a blood test.

He said his tests came back clear. The best thing you can do is have yourself checked and stop reading online for your symptoms (like im doing now). I keep touching my lymph node like 6 times aday. sometimes it goes up, sometimes it goes down, sometimes the swelling disappears. i have to stop touching it. Since I had a strong flu in December, i also had a lymph node enlarged behind the ear. I keep touching them everyday coz im an id**t, a hypochondriac id**t like some of you here. Take up sports and do yoga, distract yourself with positivity. we attract what we keep thinking of. Eat healthy too. My hypochondriac self convinced herself that she has HIV three months ago, and went and did a test that came back negative. OF course it will be negative since ive been married for 4 years and did three tests for work during . My husband and I are inseparable, so we would know if any one of us cheated. its the stupid internet, it makes you believe things.

I have a swollen lymph node on the left side under my jaw. Went to the doctor, he said it's nothing, but there is some fluid in my ear so maybe it's from that. I always had trouble with my left ear growing up.

Sometimes I think it's always been swollen, but just recently started getting a lot of health anxiety due to my grandma passing and issues with other people.

If it's not down in another week or two, I'm going to make another appointment.

Bottom line is there are many things that could cause a swollen lymph node, but we all jump to cancer because we're hypochondriacs, or cyberchondriacs. I see it's controlling all of our lives.

I had a golf ball size knot under my jaw. It litterally grew from the size of a pea to a golf ball in 3 weeks. After surgery it was deemed a benign tumor. Popped up out of nowhere. But press for answers! I had ultrasounds and ent visits like crazy! Until finally they removed it. And after my ent arguing that it was a swollen lymph node. It indeed was not. Keep pushing!
