I am having the same issue on both feet and looking for a solution...help.
How did your malpractice suit go, Chris? I am considering doing the same. My doctor performed a bunionectomy and 4 hammer toe surgeries six weeks before my leaving for a 7 month vacation! I told him I had to be walking a month after the surgery because of this camping trip which would take us to 15 cities between October and May. Five months later, I have this alien foot and I am horrified. So is my new husband as of 6 months. Yes, my wedding trip has been totally spoiled. I'm in pain, I'm limping, my toe is stiff and stings, my knee is affected, one toe is still numb because the stitches are too tight. Yikes!
I am 15 weeks and still get the same answer from my Dr. "hang in there"...I have the sensation my toe is asleep and my foot is twice the size it was...I am wearing shoes 2 sizes larger just to accommodate the foot. I am feeling quite sorry for myself, but wonder if I am allergic to the metal pin. Has anyone heard of that?
I had both feet done 3 weeks ago and am having that same pain on top of my right foot when I sleep. Did you ever find out what caused that pain? Were you advised to do anything for it? My pain seems to reduce if I bend my right foot up towards my ankle or reduce it's elevation.
It has been two months since my surgery. I, too, am experiencing pain on the top of my foot in the middle and my ankle. Trying to find out why. Follow up doctor appointment next week. Hopefully I will get answers.
Hi Chris, I know it's been over a year since you wrote, I'm wondering how you're feeling now? I have had surgery on both feet 3 months ago and have ongoing pain in my right foot. The pain is on top of my foot but moves around and I'm unable to walk without a limp. Strangely it feels slightly more comfortable in a small heel but I'm a bit loathe to do this as they say don't wear heels for 6 months after surgery. I'm beginning to feel quite depressed about this slow healing process and would love to get some advice on how to get better. Any input would be welcome
I had bunion surgery 3 yrs ago & all of a sudden my toe has been having a lot of pain. Twice my toes swelled out of the blue. I feel most the pain under my big toe around the joint section...not to mention I noticed the bunion bump coming back. Why is this happening?
What ever happened with your foot pain?
Sounds a lot like what I felt during that time after my surgery. Good news is, it'll get better. I cried a lot and I swore the pin was making it worse but I was reminded by my husband to be patient. What you're feeling is normal. An ice pack behind the knee helped a lot and keep your foot elevated. I'm now into my 4 month. It still hurts but the pain is different now and nothing compared to before. Hang in there. Patience, Netflix and lots of ibprophen.
Sleeping is a major problem post bunion surgery. I found the best thing was to sleep on top of my comforter w a light blanket over me that would allow my foot to rest out of the blanket. I also used a pillow to elevate my foot. Anything touching my foot was painful, anything. Even if the blanket touched my foot. I also slept w a sock on to keep foot warm. I iced my foot a lot. I thought the surgeon should have offered suggestions on how to get a better night sleep. I finally figured out what help me.
