I don't have children so I put off having a Hysterectomy until six months ago. I had such bad adhesions that I had to have a total Hysterectomy not a partial. I've never felt better until 3 days ago, I started having pain on the left side and now its on the right as well. The pain is very sharp and hot and its located where my ovaries used to be. There is nothing there anymore so I don't know whats going on. I thought with a total Hysterectomy that I would be pain free. Any comments or thoughts would great, I'm a little nervous about whats going on. Thanks so much.
I too have recently had a full hysterectomy due to the same reasons as yourself. My endomitriosis had also attached itself to the bowel and so I had two surgeons work on removing the growths and uterus via vaginal laproscopy which was successful. Since the surgery I have felt fantastic, so much so that I felt an immediate improvement after the surgery, until recently. I too have had recent pain in my left side and the pain moves into the rectum depending on the level of the pain
I have had this pain off and on for the past few months and the level of pain has increased with each attack. I have returned to the doctor and I have been sent for another scan abdominal and vaginal scheduled to next week. So at this point I have no answer except to say you are not alone! AND I will keep you posted but perhaps the best advice would be to return to your doctor for answers.
All the best
I am glad to find out I am not the only person who seems to be a medical mystery. I had a total hysterectomy 1 year ago this past May. I had been feeling great until the last month. It started out with some mild back pain. At first it would come and go so we though that I had just pulled or strained a muscle and kept reaggervating it. However, the pain got worse and became more constant and then I woke up one morning with a terrible back pain and pain in the pelvic region which felt eerily similar to the pain I had with previous cysts. I went to the hospital and they did blood work, urine and a abdominal ct scan. The doctor came in and had the nerve to ask me if I had really had a total hysterectomy!! I was caught so off guard all I could say was yes. They preceded to tell me that I had a tiny cyst on my left ovary. They said it would go away and if the pain persisted to go to my family doctor. They would not even give me anything for the pain. Obviously I was not okay with there answer, so I immediately called my ob/gyn to verify that I indeed had a full hysterectomy. They comfirmed it and said that since I had they would no longer be the ones to help and that maybe I would need to see a pain management doc. I was so aggrevated with everyone at this point. I called my family doctor and finally someone listened. The nurse told me that if there is any part of the ovary left behind (even the most minute piece) that it will continue to produce hormones and can allow cysts to grow. So now I am scared about what the true answer is! I am guessing that a piece was left behind but even with that it means there is one large cysts that resembles an ovary and then a smaller one. I will see my doctor tommorow and he is going to review the scan and we will come up with a plan. Good luck to all who are experiencing this and please seek out the doctor that will listen to you!!!!!! I will post further info as I find out more.
I had a full hysterectomy in November 2009 due to frozen pelvis syndrome. My uterus actually was stuck to my ovaries, bladder, adn abdominal wall. Felt great until two weeks ago. Dull pain and now increasing continual pain. Am I crazy/ What could be causing this? The thought of more doctors is distressing.
Hi all
I had a hysterectomy 4 months ago due to cervical cancer, as im only 32 they left my ovaries in. I have recovered really well but over the last week i have been experiencing severe lower back pain and pain in my abdomen. The pain is so bad at times it makes my legs shake. Im not sure if i should still be experiencing period pains due to having my ovaries still. Also im concerned the cancer has come back, but that could be just mind over matter as i did get the all clear in april. Anyone got a similar story to me that could help???? I feel so worried.
I have had previous success with Lupron injections -
which my doc just prescribed. It takes a coupke of injections to kick in but I'm still waiting for latest doses to work like before.
let me know how you are
Hello all,
I just turned 40 years old and I put off the hysteretomy for 8 years, I finally had a full on Oct. 17, 2012 even though it is fairly new I have all kinds of questions and concerns. I had my down adominally but recently learned that I have vaginal stitches as well so I confused why do I have the vaginal stitches if I was cut from the stomach where everything was removed. Also I have been have some severe cramp like systems and when I told the doctor she said that I shouldn't because there is nothing there to cramp with. I need answers because I am very upset and I feel like I am in a no win battle.
adaughterofaking1972 this is an old thread so you probably wont get many replies.. anyway I hope this helps.
I have had a c-section and then 22 years later a laproscopic hyst (our hyst dates are close) Based off what I have learned thru both procedures, you have vaginal stitches because they had to close you up after they removed your cervix and uterus.. I am not a Dr. but based off of my own experiences the cramping is your stomach muscles, bladder, bowels and everything else that was moved, mixed up and just plain made angry during the procedure. Hope all goes well and happy healing :)

I am 48 years old and had to have a total hysterectomy...they took it ALL out!! I'm only 4 days post op, but I'm having extreme pain in my left side. Is this normal?
I had my total hysterectomy last November 14, 2012, I was 46 years old that time. I was really very thankful because I felt no pain even just after my operation. I took pain reliever only on my 5ft day of operation and no more. My OB-Gyne told me that I must not feel any pain. Now its my 5 months post -op and still very OK with God's help. Im taking progynova 1 mg as my OB Gyne advised me to take to relieve me any symptoms of hot flushes and its very effective.
