hi, I have a varicocelectomy about one month ago , but my testicles is still painful , usually how long after surgery will the pain go away? also after the surgery my right tescticles suddenly becomes bigger tha the right, could the surgery have ggone wrong?
I don’t think there should be any pain a month after varicocelectomy and a recovery should actually last one week while resumption to full activities may take up to three weeks.
Have you had a follow-up with your doc to see if everything’s ok?
There are certain complications that may occur after varicocelectomy and formation of hydrocele is one of them. Hydrocele is a fluid filled cyst around the testicle in the scrotum, if one of your testicles have been additionally swelling (even a month after), you should certainly report this to your surgeon.
Also, it may happen that one of the arteries bringing blood to the testicle get damaged or even some of the nerves, which could be causing this prolonged pain.
Unfortunately, nothing can be said without examination, so I would call my surgeon if I were you.

We are not robots, you can't expect everything to be exactly the same inside of everyone. Maybe you had a defect at birth, maybe while rough housing when you were younger you had damage done that now is effecting you.
Or maybe the doctor that operated on you did not get every varicocele? Or damaged your artery or you are experiencing secondary varicocele.
Those are varicocele that appear after your body redirects your blood flow and causes strain on different veins causing them to fail too.
Personally I had bilateral varicocelectomy for stage III (most painful kind) multiple varicoceles. I had three veins cut from each side... lets just say I was literally sick from the pain. I had the surgery done and after the recovery I felt fine. About three months later I had pretty much the same pain and more varicoceles. It was recommended I *don't* have another sugery and go with a radiologist for emmobilization. I decided since I wanted kids to wait it out and went with a pain specialist who physically moved my nerves going down my abdomen to my legs as well as during 6 rounds of steroid injections in the area.
I feel a TON better and am not getting sick anymore but it still hurts from time to time in my abdomen and testicular area. For that I use 50mg of Tremodal and that helps tremendously.
I WISH I HAD EMOBILIZATION the first time!!! It almost seems barbaric to do it the old surgery way.
But I did notice, before i had chronic back pain and now I don't. I think cutting the muscles relaxed everything in that area. I really like that perk.

I told my surgeon and after one year we did liberation of the nerve
Nothing to fear you have to do liberation of the nerve – neurinom
First you sue depomedrole a medicament to test the nerve than if the pain go with the medicaments after 48h they will cut it for you and you will feel better the surgery named liberation of the nerve neurinom and it takes 15 min

Does it usually take this long for the pain to go away?

I just went to the urologist who performed my surgery this Friday and I'll try my best to convey what happened. Explained my symptoms of the initial burning over my scar area followed by a noticeable recurrence of the varicocle in my left testicle ( This is approx 1 year post op). As well as my symptoms of radiating pain (more of a burning sensation) and generally sluggish feeling in my legs and feet. Also pain in my right abdomen, testicle and down my legs, arms, and heart. After explaining these symptoms the doctor immediately looks shocked and almost insulted claiming that radiating pain to my right side or down my leg could in no way be related to the surgery and sounds like something more with the nerves. Well my question is couldn't he have damaged the nerves in the inguinal surgery? Also, if it is due to the varicocle and I am really beginning to believe it is because as my symptoms have progressed I have been feeling more pain in my left testicle than I did previous to the varicoclectomy and the left is tender to the touch ( just like squints symptoms). Generally I have been feeling under the weather physically and I'm just hoping someone on here can make some headway on this subject and find relief, because it is hard to function with this almost constant pain. :-( Oh, and I am going to set up an appointment with a general practitioner here soon to see if I can't get a second opinion on whats going on here.

I just had my second varicocele surgery a little over a week ago. I'm doing alright, and haven't had varicocele type pain, but instead I feel a kind of burning, soreness type of pain in the area of the veins. Any ideas what that is? I've felt it at all different times, but it hurts the most when blood rushes to the area (from sexual excitement or whatever).
I figure its either new veins expanding, or old "dead end" veins being filled up with blood.

I have had my surgery about 2 years ago and i am still having pain in my left side ive tried going back to my doctor but since i have moved my new doctor has no clue as to whats goin on and just sends me on my way with a pat on the back any info would be helpful

The scar is healing just fine, and the swelling is pretty much gone. I sympathize with all of you guys who still feel or felt a worse pain in the ball after the surgery than before. This is the only thing that worries me at the moment; why is my left ball so sore after the fact? I go for my follow up on Tue. 18th. I am sure he will poke around (always fun) and tell me I am fine. I will post any news I get. My best wishes to all of you guys, it sucks bad, I know.

I had a varicocelectomy after a month ago. I had sex with my partner and i think I came in her a little then shoot out the rest outside, away from her. The night before, I was masturbating and after I was done, my urethra(inside my penis) was burning. Similar to when they just took out my catheter. Also, a day or two after having sex, my left testicle was in pain for short amounts of time. At least, 3 times on those 2 days. Did i get my partner pregnant?
Joseph may i ask what happened to your follow up? I had two incisions (both the left and right abdomen) for my surgery. The scar is already fine and no more swelling. The only problem that i am experiencing is the sensitivity of my testicles. I also have that "sore" pain. Hoping to hear from you.

DamageDone, I agree that we should stay in contact. I had a varicocelectomy about two weeks ago to fix a stage 2 varicocele that was causing a little discomfort and a dragging sensation in my left testicle. Its 2 weeks out and while there have been improvements I am still seeing veins bulging out occasionally. I think its too early to tell if the surgery was a success or not because my doc told me everything went well and that the swelling should go away in a few more weeks. Im hoping hes right and Im just gonna keep praying that me and my fellow varicocele sufferers can make a full recovery. You guys are in my prayers and I think we should stay in touch to provide success stories as well as support for those who may be suffering. I thank God that I dont have anything more serious and I believe God would be happy to see us helping eachother through this thing.
I agree with you dude.. We guys really need to keep in touch and get some updates. Let's all pray for us to have a fast recovery.
