Hi, I'm a 13 year old girl and I've been a vegetarian for over a year now. When I clog or run, after a short while I get a pain in my left side- sometimes my right too- and I don't know why. I went to the doctor and she gave me medicine for muscle spasms and it helps but i don't think it fixes it. I was clogging tonight and noticed when I took deep breaths the pain went away, not completely, but it's much much more bearable. This is a big problem because we have competitions coming up soon so I need advice, should I just try to concentrate on breathing more? and what do you think it is?
Hi:
I have two thoughts. Could this be that you are not drinking enough water to compensate or your level of activity? Could this be that your daily nutrition does not support your level of activity. Either of these can make a big difference with how you are feeling. Google "Food Pyramid." Look at the daily recommendations for yourself. Consider your level of activity and add where necessary. I really think this may be the problem. you are really wise to know that meds can cover the real problem even though it helps with the symptoms. You are really a smart young woman. See if this helps. If not, see a different doctor for another opinion and keep asking questions until you get answers. Best wishes. Let us know.
