Hi,
I have just googled 'lower abdominal and rectum pain' because i was up during the night again with the pain but haven't consulted my GP about it. I'm glad that I have come across this page.
I have had this pain for years, i think i was seventeen when it first became apparent, back then i only noticed it occassionaly when i had sex, my stomach would swell and i would get pain in my rectum and ovaries but only for a short time. I went to see my GP about it who arranged for a camera to look at my uterus (because i thought the pain was caused through having sex), there were no abnormalities found. Over the years i started getting a cramp like sensation in my rectum, it would stop me in my tracks no matter where i was i had to stop what i was doing and wait for the pain to subside, usually 30 seconds, following this my lower abdominals and ovaries would swell and become tender. The pain started to occur about 3 times a year until recently.
Recently i have been experiencing much greater discomfort with it, it leaves my stomach area swollen and tender for at least one day after. A couple of days before i get this pain i get warning signs i.e the pain gradually increases. Last night I had pain on the left side of my stomach (could be intestines), rectum (like a cramping at times), lower stomach and both my ovaries, i had to get out of bed and walk around, it subsided after 40 minutes and i was able to sleep. This also happened about 2 months ago, the pain woke me early hours of the morning and it was much more severe. I do not have problems passing stoles during these times and the pain doesnt become worse if i do.
After reading below comments i am going to make a GP appointment and will ask whether it could be either Endometriosis, ulcers, muscle spasms or gall stones. I will let you know. Thanks, Becky

Hi All,
35 y/o female here. Post partial hysterectomy, cervix, uterus and one tube removed two years ago. At that time I was told I also had endometriosis.
Today I began experiencing very similar pains in my abdominal area (left side) that has gotten worse over the past 6 hours. I decided I would research what could be the problem and saw this thread. One of the commentators mentioned muscle spasms and that reminded me (I have a terrible memory) that the doctor that performed my colonoscopy explained to me that the feeling I was experiencing was colon spasms. I was also prescribed 0.125 mg Hyoscyamine sublingual tabs. I decided to take one and almost instantly as it came, the pain went away.
I can't diagnose your pain but if you go to a doctor for your symptoms perhaps you can mention colon spasms or something along that line.

I was also told that I had IBS. I think it all goes hand-in-hand with the colon spasms.
Heya I have the same thing! Can't cough can't shout anything that means tensing my belly! It's in my lower abdomen like where my whomb is, I put off arc aslong as I can because I get a massive pain in my lower belly, bum, lower back, just all down there for a. Our of hours sometimes os more mild than others sometimes it's unbearable :(
You should consider doing a parasite cleanse. Im shocked that doctors don't suggest this option before prescribing drugs.
If i didn't do a parasite cleanse i would be medicated up the wazoo by now!
How long did the spasms last
I have the same symptoms. 32 year old female. Sharp pain in lower abdominal area which shoots through anus and vagina. I literally have to brace myself when it happens. So intense. Has lessened 2 days later but now my entire abdomen feels extremely bloated and feels really sensitive when pressure is applied to it. Help!
Hi yes ive been having the same pain for about 3 weeks off and on. I did have have a hysterectomy 6 months ago so not sure if its from that. I do get constipated also.
I have had these sharp pains off and on for years. Kind of like uterine cramps or spasms and into my vagina and rectum. I was diagnosed with endometriosis years ago. I have had 2 surgeries to have tissue removed. I was told I have tissue on my bowels that can't be removed as the risk of puncturing my bowels is too high. I still get these pains occasionally. Usually when I haven't been eating healthy. I stay away from foods that cause inflammation, processed foods too much meat, and stick as much to a alkaline diet as I can. This helps so much! For the most part in remission if I stick to an alkaline diet.
Yes it hurts so bad.
I had a D&C 10 weeks ago and I am experiencing the same exact pain as you!! I had this pain 3 weeks ago and it lasted about 4 days but then went away. Now it is back again :( I have a dr appointment for next wk. it is awful!!
