I have been complaining about this lump on my lower back for over a year now and was told it is a fatty tumor. I leave the Dr.s office in tears because he will not give me athing for pain or and MRI to rule out anthing at all..

Kind of an ease of my mind to read folks are having the same issue I am. I actually started a very, very strict diet about 16 months ago, losing a total of 30 lbs. After losing the weight, my lower back has started to hurt at times. I noticed when I drink a lot (alcohol), my back will hurt more basically meaning I'm dehydrated I assume. I have been on vacation, and have been going hard with the alcohol for almost 2 weeks now, so not sure if this was driven from alcohol or not. Sunday, I was walking around shirtless, and just happened to glance at a mirror and noticed on the right side of my back, slightly above my waist almost to my spine a lump sticking out of my back. I can feel it and move it around, it freaked me out. I have been drinking a lot of water since and that's it, thinking it was swelling from being dehydrated. I can tell it has gone down a bit, but it's still noticeable, plus I can still feel it. I'd say its between 1" and 1.5" in diameter. A few days ago I was doing some hard lifting and strenuous yard work, maybe that on top of all the beer drove some stress level up and developed the lump, I have know idea.
I'm a 33 year old male, heavy drinker, 6'1, 178 lbs, and don't eat hardly anything. I'm freaked out, as it's all I have thought about since seeing this lump on Sunday morning.

Hey there. I have been experiencing lower right back pain for many years. I am a nurse and started noticing pain after I helped move an overweight patient. It has gotten worse. I was initially diagnosed with two bulging discs but nothing is relieving the pain. Lately, I have been hurting even more. I have been on pain management for years now. They give me pain medications, muscle relaxers, and epidural injections. Nothing seems to be helping lately. I have these same nodules in my right lower back and one on my left side. They both hurt when you palpate them. That is where I am having all of my pain! My pain goes down my leg and it is just depressing me. My doctors don't seem to be able to help me. I am so frustrated. I had went with mother to her physician appointment recently and was just telling the doctor about my back pain after her appointment. She doesn't even specialize in the back and spine area. She felt my back and told me she could tell this was "back mice." I googled it when I got home and happened to find information on it after a while. The symptoms sound exactly like what I have. I talked to my pain management specialist recently about them and he acted like he didn't know what I was talking about. I lost my job in March due to the company relocating. I have no insurance and would like any information you have on this. How did your physician find them or how did you get a physician to listen to you. If you could tell me your physician's information, I might even drive to where you are and have them look at it. I will do anything at this point. Actually, that would be great if you could give me your physician's information. I could call and make an appointment. I am desperate for anything! This is just ruining my life! Thanks.

I know exactly what you feel. I am feeling the same thing. Do do nodules move when you palpate them? Mine do. I was recently told these were "back mice." I can't seem to find anyone who knows what they are except someone who is not specialized in this area and can't help me. As much money as doctors make, you would think all back and spine physicians would know how to help you. I go to a pain management facility and they give me Tramadol and muscle relaxers but that hasn't been helping the past several days. I am at the end of my rope right now. I feel for you and hope you find someone to help you. I hope we both can find something to relieve our pain and improve our lives. Keep us updated on your status.

I've had this problem on and off for a while now. Sever lower left back pain toward the hip. Well finally I felt a big lump today. I've been icing it down the past 5 hours and the lump has gone down to something I don't notice. The pain is still there, just less severe. I've been doing sciatica and piriosis exercises, but really its neither of them. Its this dang lump. The pain is just where the lump is and not down the leg like piriosis syndrome or a pinched sciatica.
I also want to say, I work as a temp in a factory 3rd shift. The temp agency won't let me quit for another week. I have a feeling calling it a Back Mouse to my supervisor will sound crazy, so I'll just call it lipoma.

Okay everyone! I have been dealing with back pain for several years now. I just recently got told it was back mice in my back. I didn't even know there were nodules back there until a doctor (who is not a specialist in the back area) told me what they were. I went to a chiropractor and she confirmed it was lipomas. I have these nodules on each side of my back and they move when palpated. I am a nurse and hurt my back when lifting a patient. I feel for all of you who are dealing with this. This is the most awful pain for a person to endure for so very long! I have tried everything. I have tried PT, massage therapy, epidural injections, trigger point injections, and am at my wits end with this stuff. Now that I had someone confirm (who is a chiropractor at least), I have an appointment with a General Surgeon who has removed these before. I have had the injections right into the nodules and they do not work. I am not going to mess around anymore with people telling me this and that just trying to get my money when I don't have insurance. I am sick of it! It is pathetic that more physicians don't know about these "back mice." Now, what I did was printed out information on "back mouse" and gave a copy to the chiropractor. A lot of physicians don't know it by that name. They know it more by "epidural lipoma" or "lipoma." The chiropractor knew it by "lipoma." She laughed kind of when I said back mouse. So, use the medical terms when talking to physicians about it. The chiropractor had an employee who had to have these removed and referred me to the General Surgeon who removed them. She said this employee felt a lot better after having them removed. My advice is not to give up. Keep going to different doctors until you find someone who knows about these. Call around and ask them over the phone if there is a plastic surgeon or General Surgeon who knows about lipomas, back mouse, lumbar fat herniations, epidural lipomas, etc. Call hospitals and see if they can refer any general surgeons or plastic surgeons. Don't give up! I am hoping to have these removed as soon as possible.

I am finally getting these "back mice" removed today. The ones that are in the lower back. Wish me luck!

I have a lump and I felt it was causing my leg to feel odd and I was very aware of these lumps on my back and what was odd was suddenly I had flu like symptoms I had every test known to man almost every test all negative I The doctors all seemed not concerned about this lump...so my friend suggested that I needed to see a dermatologist they are the ones you see for this sort of thing. They will do a biopsy to identify what it is Meanwhile, I'm using a natural approach for this lump bumps on my lower back I'm applying DMSO and organic cold pressed castor oil on it with hot water bottle every evening for 1 hour and this is supposed to dissolve it and I'm taking serrapeptase this is the stuff that silk worms excrete stuff that dissolves coccoons. So in case your doctor is slow moving you might want to try this

Around 2 days ago I noticed a small uncomfortable lump on my back. I asked my mom what she thought it was and she told me it was most likely acne, but the lump is very painful to the touch and I think I may have what you are all talking about. How can I tell?
