pain in lower back, small lump

i was suffering from horrible back ache for more than 6 months( couldnt sit or drive more than 10 minutes). all the doctors told me its because of a herniated disc i had(l5-s1) . my physiotherapist found a little lipoma in my left side of my back , exactly in the pain area. after a search on the web i saw this lipomas can be painfull(i read this forum too), so i go to a plastic surgeon, and he took it out 2 weeks ago - and it was like i was went out of jail !!!! no back ache , now i can seat and bend with no pain. its unbelieveble! go and remove those painfull lamps! your life will be much easier with no pain!!!!

Dana, what was the actual procedure?  Can most plastic surgeons do this?   Thank you for your advice and to all who are dealing with this same condition.  I have had constant back pain almost 15 years ago after a painful epidural.  I have also been in 5 car accidents rear ended in rain, sun, impatient man trying to beat the light, and a two deer on a suicide mission.  Not to mention 3 others as a child, involving deer in my Grams car,won't wearing a seat belt.   I was starting to wonder if we were lab rats and ingesting Gmo's, are causing tumors, like on rats.   It is very frightening, trying to eat right, take diet supplements, and getting this.  I also have fibroids that need to be removed.  If anyone is experiencing this too, please share.

I have a cyst on lower right side of my back doctor told me .have to get xray and go from there hope this helps .

I too have this horrible pain, numbness, in addition to bowl anis abdominal pains. I have a lump at the top area of the back hip and if I rub if I massage it I'm surely in extreme pain later on. I still have to consult a doctor as I've been living with this pain for years...

I to have the same problem but i often fall out of no where when it goes down my legs. my legs have gone num, hot, tingly, asleep, and just no feeling at all as if i don't feel or cant move it all all for periods of time. id really like to hear what any Dr say if any one finds one that knows anything about it. I really feel like no one really knows much.

I have the exact problem!! It didn't start till I was @ work. Picked up something...& my lower back was freaking killing me! I've never had to deal w so much pain on a daily basis! Horrible can't get outta bed! Gotta do like an army roll! When I can sleep n bed!!! Then after about 3 wks. Of this...i went to sit down...& felt like a ball move from lower back to tail bone!!!!freaked me out!! I think I'm dying of sum strange disease! Guess I gotta suck it up and go to doctor!!! This all was very helpful! Glad to knw I'm not alone w this issue!!!!

Hello All, I've been scouring the net for all the info I can find about this issue, "The Back Mouse". I am a 46 year old male and I have had these for over 30 years. I also happen to be unfortunate enough to have a "pilonidal cyst" as well and can tell you they are two very different things.
I suppose the good thing is that I've only had two flare-ups of the pilonidal cyst in my life time and did not have to have surgery.
I must also say that "good and "pilonidal cyst" really don't belong in the same sentence. It is an excruciatingly painful boil "like a pimple but way worse" at the tailbone. The two flare-ups were some of the worse days of my life and if it happens again I would probably have the surgery.

Now back to the lumps in the lower back that this thread is about. I can't tell you any more about them than the response from hilmav above. Hilma has been a chiropractor since 1991 and put a great video on youtube about the "Back Mouse", or for a more technical term Episacral Lipoma among others. Once you find the video you can check out a couple of the links she has there. I found some great info from her and can't thank her enough except to tell others about her efforts to help others with this debilitating injury. I think there are a lot more people with these painful lipomas than is realized. I'm afraid that many others with low back pain may have this and have been misdiagnosed and possibly for years as in my case. Doctors that don't know about them will either tell you its a muscle strain or they will admit that it is a lipoma but what they don't get is that it's not like a typical lipoma that show up on other parts of the body. These lipomas are actually more like hernias. Mine are very painful at times but most of the time I can somehow deal with them. It seems that any time I am a little week from any other illness or injury the lipomas flare up and give me trouble too but sometimes they flare up for no apparent reason. After finding out what they are and the proper cure, I've decided to find a good surgeon and have them removed and the tissue underneath repaired.
If you think you have these but are having trouble with the diagnosis there is a great article written in medical terms that you can show your Dr. Its written by Dr David Bond. It should be easy to find by searching his name and "episacral lipoma".

I just replied to a couple of posts and decided to join. If you have time please read. I actually found your video on youtube before I found this thread and mention it in my post.
First off thank you so much for your efforts. I'm on two crusades now, one to heal myself and another to raise awareness of this debilitating injury. I truly believe that many more people have painful episacral lipomas than is realized. I'm afraid that they have been misdiagnosed as in my case. I believe this should be checked for more often like they do for regular hernias in a phisical exam. Doctors should know much more about these than they do and especially ones that call themselves "Back Specialists"!
It has taken me years and many trips to the Dr or ER to have the courage to stand up against the "muscle strain" diagnosis that I always get. It's not easy to tell a Doc that you think he or she is wrong! Now I have a new PCP and I'm finally insisting that I have PAINFULL episacral lipomas and want to do whatever it takes to get them fixed. It seems that my PCP does not agree with me but is willing to try to help where he can. He started by sending me to a spine specialist who took x rays and an MRI. All the spine surgeon could say is that there is nothing for him to treat. My PCP has now agreed to refer my to a Plastic Surgeon so I think I'm getting close.
Now I'm looking for a Doctor in the Denver area that acknowledges these for exactly what they are and if I'm lucky enough to find a plastic surgeon or any other Dr that has any experience with removing them the right way.

I am experiencing the same thing for a week now. A lump that I can move with my finger and above my hip bone on my left side

I have the same round hard lump,cannot sleep laying down.I was told by a nurse that it is where I recived a shot that had hardened in the muscle.She had had the same problem and it had to be removed by a surgeron.

i have the same thing right now. any help ypu can give me to know what it is?

Had the pilonidal, washed it everyday in the shower with anti zip face wash. Neutrogina naturals green and tan bottle and contains witch hazel, also used one that have alpha and beta acids, forgot what it was called... washed with that every day and it was gone in 2 weeks. but if you stop then it comes back. so wash every day with that for 3 months or so and mine has been gone for 2 years now. But if you forget one day in that 3 months it will come back, don't forget.

should also mention that I had the surgery to get rid of it, and 2 months later it was back right away!! i was mad, but just started using the zit face wash every day and it has been gone every since.
