Hi: I had this exact problem many years ago. It was solved by having the epididimus removed surgically. The pain was gone; I was able to ejaculate without any pain after that. Good luck!

Im only 14 years old and for the past month or so ive had at first what was only slight pain in my right testicle about 1 to 3 times a day and has now elevated into nearly crippling pain about 3 to 4 times every couple hours along with a sort of sudden dull pain at random. i have no swelling, no lumps,no discoloration, no pain any where but my right testicle. the pain does not seem to be triggered by anything it is not sensitive to touch, coughing and i haave no problem urinating but comes and goes at pretty much its own accord. i have not had any recent injuries to that area. i do masturbate and i was wondering if that could some how be related. i have not seen a doctor yet and im not sure wat to do im scard and i would despritly enjoy some information or advice on wat to do.

This is quite hearteneing to read, as I've found little other help on-line, or indeed with the medical assistance I've received.

I've had a condition almost exactly like the first post in this thread.

Overall sensitivity around my testicles and scrotum, as above the pain comes mainly from 'underneath'. A slight brush to the right or the left of my scrotum causes and immediate sharp pain followed by aching for an extended period of time. Depedending on what I did, the pain can last for an hour, or until I go to sleep for the night. Driving, sitting down, wearing jeans, are just some of the things which are harder than before and painful.

I originally recevied trauma to the area during wrestling training. Not extrem pain at the time but it has never gone away.

I've spent a couple of thousand dollars in seeking what's wrong. Two MRI's checking the scrotum and lower abdomen to check for cysts etc.. A catscan to check for nerve damage or scar tissue, a flowtest, a colonoscopy for checking my prostate and cystoscopy for checking my bladder (dear lord that was bad). I've been on two anti-inflams, and also been on an anti-convulscant in Epilim. I've just tried not training for 5 weeks, and nothing has improved.

What can be wrong? What else is there to do? I don't want to have this the rest of my life but a year has gone by and it's no better at all.

exact same story... you've had some tests that i havent had but i have had ultrasound on testicle and kidney , kidney xrays, ect... one doc wanted to take a lymphnode out to check but i opted not to do it considering there wasnt anything they could find wrong.. but lately its becoming more of a problem again... when i set for long periods of time i get a numbness in my groin area and my epididimys(sp?) swells along with my testicles.. its like a pressure.. not necessarily a pain... like it doesnt hurt but it is such an annoyance it is close to it.. ive found that taking a hot shower helps trenemdously.. also i have been reading alot and have come to the conclusion that it is possible either a hydrocele or varicocele ... but they shouldnt have missed either of these in an ultrasound... but who knows :/... symptoms deffinately point to these..

symptoms: pain from testicle through spermatic cord into abdomen(somewhat like a burning sensation, sometimes in groin area too); swelling in testicle; almost like its filling something(leading me to suspicion of variocele.. variocele is pretty much like varicrose(sp?) veins in legs....) anyways.. dont know what to do about it other than try to live with it... if its hydrocele they can drain the fluids from the spermatic tube if it is unbearable, but in most cases u can deal... but ya, ive been dealing with it a while now and i use to get anxious about it and kinda get worked up about it a little.. that only makes it worse ;/... only advice i could give :/...

Again, very similar story. Went to the doctor today and was told nothing could be found just by physical tests and stuff. My blood tests came back and I do apparently have mono which is no fun though I dont show many symptoms of that. I am 19 and experienced some possible swelling in the left testicle and then the next day it was slightly sore but not swolen. Almost felt like it was more loose or not bound as well. I know that might sound silly but then the same thing happened to the right testicle. It felt funny and then just kinda sore and loose. Two days later i still experience soreness when im sitting or thinking about it and sometimes it travels into my pelvic area but thats normal with testicle pain. I dont think I have a hernia because I was checked but that was a main concern but variocele is a definite possibility.... Im just extremely worried as one might expect. I am worried about having children in the future and whether I will be able to have sex eventually or not. I cant sleep at night not because its that painfull but there is soreness and I constantly worry about it, keeping me awake and what not. If anyone has any suggestions, please please help. Again, the soreness is mostly underneath. I have been coughing a lot which is what my doctor blamed it on I guess but I am almost positive there is something else going on. I may just be freaking myself out about the situation but this isnt something Im going to take lightly...

so today I went to a urologist and she said it was in fact a varicocele. There are some symptoms that dont really seem like it would be from this but my main concern is the discomfort it brings... what can you do for it? Just take advil or tylenol? there has to be something else. I mean i know of certain surgeries but i heard thats only for certain cases. will the pain/burning go away?

This has at least been comforting to read - though frustrating that know one seems to know the cause or cure for this type of pain. I am 40 yrs and I have had aching, dule pain seemingly steming from lower back side of right testicle/scrotum for along time. It seems to radiate upward toward groin and lower abdomon, causing lower back pain and sometime abdominal pain (like a nausea). Periodically the pain goes away, and geneally it is most noticable and aches most when I wake up in the morning and want to get out of bed. Sometimes, the pain occurs late at night and it will wake me up, so I don't get rest. Pain increases after ejaculation. Believe me, that's no fun. I had hernia surgery nearly three years ago (right side) and I ofter wonder if the pain relates to that, if the mesh insert needs to be re-examined. Doctors have typcially treated for epidimitis with anti-inflamatory medication and antibotics - not, however, with great success. I am less comfortable in jeans, and a bike ride is something I would not chance unless there'is a big seat. I have been a boxer shorts wearer, but now may go to a boxer brief more regularly for added support.

You should get checked for a varicocele. Similar symptoms for sure. But also it could be from the hernia and you should make sure everything is still intact.

I was diagnosed with a varicocele about a week ago and since then I think I also have epiditymitis because I have found that my epiditymi have also become swollen and sore. I cant sit for long periods of time or i get burning sensations in upper thigh/groin area but doctor said that is from varicocele im pretty sure.

Yes, a varicocele (yes, this is the proper spelling), is simply vericose veins along the cords inside the scrotum. I have lived with it for 30 years and it is just a part of daily life. All the symptoms described in this entire discussion are those of a vericocele. They are very common. Only in severe cases do they operate to correct the situation. It can be corrected, but the surgery is rather invasive, as the veins are connected to the kidney area, but it is a semi-common operation with good results.

A vericocele will make you prone to frequent bouts of epididymitis, but they should not be as bothersome as the first occurrence.

Wearing standard "briefs" as opposed to loose boxer-type underwear will help support the epididymis and help reduce swelling and I have found that over time, my vericocele symptoms have subsided.

I have learned to live with constantly "sensitive" testicles, and the only really bothersome consequence is that they hurt when taking my girlfriend in the "doggie" position, as they more freely bounce against the underside of her body. I have found that the pain can be alleviated by having the girl stand, bending over the edge of the bed, and take her from behind while I rest one of my feet on the bed. It somehow keeps the testicles from banging so severely against the girl's body.

I hope I have helped someone with this information; it is the culmination of living with the vericocele for almost 30 years.

I have the same problem only it is in the right testicle. I got it checked in the emergency room and they said they couldnt find anything bad. It hurts when i bend down to tie my shoe or something and it gets on my nerves. The doctor said if it gets worse then you should go see a specialist. Just incase.

You have an STI. I had the same thing. Go to the Doctor and get some antibiotics and in about a week the pain will be gone and your right nut will stop swelling go back to its normal size. It sucks and its painful but its not a hernia like you might think. Its a STI, a bacterial infection and if you do not take care of it soon, it only gets worse and hurts more often

Hello Guys,
Maybe I can shed some light on what I see here over and over again.

!st of all you all have to go to a urologist to have the normal testing done. Checking for the obvious.
TC, Hernias, Cancer, Bacteria blockages, vericles, hydrocele's and the roundhouse of what common. Including the ultrasound and perhaps Ct scans.
After all this is done and you still have the same pains with no clear reason, have them consider a rare situation related to the testicle Apendix.
If it is this your kind of screwed because they don;t really have a treatment for it other then pain meds.
Also especialy pain related to the right testicle... If you were more then normally sexually active ( smile ) for many years. I am talking about having sex 3 times a day for 30 years then stopping. There is a condition where dead sperm build up and need to be ejaculated with repetive normal ejactulations. About once a day should do it. Don't beat up the area it will make it worse..good luck

i had a pain that started in my right testicle and after the span of 1.5 hrs slowly moved up to my abdomen and then around to my right lower back..i went to the e.r. and after another hr the pain was gone..they tested my urine, which had blood in it, and tested my blood..my white blood cell count was at 15,000 (normal 8,000-10,000) and my urine blood count was "too high to count"..after a catscan of my lower body, they found a 2 millimeter kidney stone which resided in my bladder..the pain i endured was the movement of the stone from my kidney to my bladder..they told me the pain would return when the stone "decided" to travel from my bladder to my urethra..the male urethra is about 8 inches long so you can imagine the amount of pain i'll have to endure yet again during this movement..the urethra ends and opens up at the tip of the penis..i was given a drug called flomax that should open my urinary tract a bit to help flow and maybe even relieve some of the pain i have to endure in the next day or so..

I'm experiencing pain in both testicles and they are very warm, only the left is swollen. They keep retracting which is very painful in my lower abdomen. I've been to my doctor been on 3 different antibiotics and am now being referred to a neurologist, for possible nerve damage in my back.  Apparently nerve damage to the back can cause swollen testicles, don't quite get how!  It's been a month so I'll try anything to stop the pain and get some decent sleep.
