I would suggest that you be tested for gluten intolerance. This is a very common disorder that goes undiagmosed by our US physicians. It is just now being recognized. The gluten in wheat, rye and barley all can cause terrific problems in the small intestine, producing much gas pain. You can test for this yourself by just eliminating any and all products that contain wheat. Try a limited diet such as white rice and cooked vegetables for a week with no bread or other wheat product. People with gluten intolerance are often lactose intolerant also.
Been to docs, had scans, xrays etc all fine, the pain I have is right side all around my ribs, cant even let water in the shower fall on to my back because if the pain!!
I also feel breathless with it, anyone else get a feeling of breathlessness?
I have the same problem - was so severe I couldn't function any more and was going to quit work - Doctor couldn't find anything wrong with me.
Turns out I have a damaged costa-vertabral rib joint (thoraxic spine). This causes spasms in the stomach as it impinges the stomach opening valve (anything that increases stomach gas such as large meals, spice, and for me high processed carbs/gluten) aggravates it. So I changed my diet, lost weight, started excercising, did pilates, changed my mattress, learned how to stand straight and now the pain rarely comes.
So if the doctor can't help you, make lifestyle changes yourself.
Since the doctors couldn't find anything apparent, it could be caused by Trigger points in the surrounding muscles. You could also have bones/organs/etc out of place....this is what happened to me. I went to a Chiropractor and he adjusted me. This helped tremendously. I also got with a experienced Licensed Massage Therapist who knew about Trigger points and she took care of those.
That sounds like classic gallbladder disease because of the time of day you have pain and that it wakes you up during the night, I'm not sure what the MD's were looking for, there don't have to be stones. I had gallbladder pain for about three years. I stopped eating gluten in March and within a week or so noticed that my pain was gone. In June I went back on gluten for a few weeks and the pain came back. In September I tried gluten again and the pain came back even worse than in June. Gluten sensitivity and Celiac's Disease can destroy the enzyme that makes the Gallbladder function properly. That would cause the pain. Also the MD's might be right that your gallbladder is fine, but the gluten could still cause upper right pain, vomiting, and gas by attacking the duodenum as in Celiac's Disease.
Actually, this may have been helpful and may be the problem this person has. I am someone who is having this symptom. My mother had the same symptom 11 years ago and it was pancreatic cancer. I only say this so if (BIG IF) this was as serious as pancreatic cancer that it is ruled out. This is a cancer with high morbidity because it does not show symptoms early enough.
Of course I hope I am just a worrywart.
Why say something like that to someone who you have explained no symptoms to? You know nothing, stop messing with peoples heads. Pancreatic cancer, IT'S hereditary, you should check yourself.
I have endured this wretched pain for over 10-12 maybe 13 years, without any satisfactory diagnosis. The keep saying that it is musclar. I do get some relief with soma(it a prescribed med. use just one as prescribed by md, it can become habit forming). I usually wait until I cant stand it to take it so I feel like it has helped. Second I did physical therapy for lock shoulder syndrome. I also had my gallbalder removed, they called it a bounced gallbladder after i was rear-end and started having all these symptom. I too am a side sleeper an it worsens when I lay down on either side so I try to sleep at an angle to take the pressure off. However, I did discover that my matrresses were agravating the problem. I went into Ashleys furniture to find a new matress, The sales person help me find the perfect set that were quality yet firmer matresses. I laid on them for a long time. At first contact with them as I laid down I screamed in joy because I felt no increase in pain in fact I felt some relief. To say the least the were very expensive. The full set cost 2grand, queen, 3grand, and the king 4grand. I recently bought some so called back supporter plush matresses for nealy 2grand and can't lay on the darn things at all. When God Bleses Me With this money for the matresses I am going to spend it on them. I feel that once I have the right matresses my condition will improve because I can finally get some restorative sleep. My other goal is to loose weight on my large mid-section so it will stop straining my muscles. I hope this helps. It has helped me to see that others out there understand my pain.
I have paid attention carefully that after having caffeine it get worst and when I quit it, feels much better.
I have also been having similar symptoms but I believe it's related to food allergies and/or food intolerances with the later being very hard to work out but with patience and pertistence and writing everything down you eat and drink and start eliminating the main ones which are gluten and dairy you may find things improve. Alot of Dr.'s won't pick up on food intolerances so it may be worth going to see a naturopath or having some food allegy and food intolerance tests. My symptoms have improved alot since doing the above but still have a little way to go. Good luck to all of you.
