Please Help!! I am 57 yrs. old and have been in menopause for about 4-5 years. My husband is VERY gentle and understanding with me. I have tried multiple lubricants including those from my Dr. also used Vagifem, 1 tab. per week (some but little help). The problem of the lubrication we work around. The HUGE issue is the pain at penetration. It feels like I have a "rim" that is right there at the beginning that simply won't allow him to pass through. We're talking real pain here! We have 2 adult children which we adopted at birth, as I have never conceived. (long story) What the heck does one do and does this typically last from here on out? HELP!! Thank you all for your words of wisdom!
I have the same problem. I've been in menopause for 3.5 years and had this problem for the last year. I've enjoyed sex for years. It's not as often now, but initial penetration is very painful. It gets better after entry, but sometimes I bleed. And sometimes, he can't get all the way in. Any answers would be very welcome. I love sex and I'm too young to give it up!
how do i post a question?

Agree with description of a tight ring of tissue at entrance to vagina
Somewhere, when I was younger and getting married, they said
GYN could "slit" the hymen and make intercourse easier. Why not
have a minor procedure to remove some of the tissue ring in women
over 50? I would be a procedure many women could take advantage
of and help so many couples. I think as more of the population ages
this just becomes ever more important issue, to be able grow older
and be happy and healthy and able to be sexually active. Why not?
Hello, I am having the same problem. I am thinking it is related to all the sugar we have now and possible all the years of bleached tampons.... No one knows the answer. I am going to work with my herbalist on this. I agree, to young. I am 56 and this has gone on a few years. I did have C-sections but I think it is related to what I said above.. I was raised by a organic mom because she was told she you not love long at age 2= to frail. Well she went the organic way with exercise. She is almost 88 and on no drugs. You cannot say that about the elderly.... Most are on lots. Lets see what we can come up with.
I Have Same Problem - What Can I Do?
I am 56 and just started a wonderful relationship after not having intercourse for over 4 years, so everything tightened up, and since then have gone through menopause. I have the exact same problem. Making it more challenging is that my partner is very large and that small ring just inside the vagina area bleeds and bled a lot the last time when he penetrated more - for hours afterwards. What solutions have worked for you?
Nothing yet. been trying many things. found it just best to forget that part of love making and do other things.
I have the same problem and I am 16!! help
Did you see your doctor? You are too young for this thing. Its in Menopause after 40 to 50 year olds... It could be something else. See what she says. I would recommend a female doctor. We have the same parts. Hope you get your answer.
If you are 16, it's a different issue and I had the same when I was young, you have to go see a Gyno and they have different ways in stretching it but for me I needed surgery -my partner was also too big for me... it worked and I was fine after the operation
I know this is an older thread but hopefully my post can help someone. This happened to me in my thirties after years of not having intercouse (as hubby had difficulty performing). After numerous visits to the regular i gym (and having them blow me off), I finally saw a urinogynocologist and pelvic floor specialist. She diagnosed me in less than five minutes. I was in a "spasm." I had to take Valium vaginally in a suppository form. It had to be made special at a compounding pharmacy. Then I had to have three months of a special kind of physical therapy. It took three months of this weekly therapy for me to be able to have pain free intercourse. I still have to use a dilator for maintenance. I really hope this helps someone. I felt so alone and confused as to what the problem could be. Oh yeah, and I was always the youngest person in the office. When I asked the PT she said that it usually happens in older women and not in women my age.
Typo- it should say after numerous visits to the regular OBGYN. Also along with the dilator Imhave to do special exercises as well.

I have this too and I'm 19 :(
Thank-you for this good info. I just went in and she said to stretch out this area daily. If you don't use it you lose it. I will try what you said above except i do not do medications but organic. Thank-you...
