I've had these forever and have dealt with them after being told they were foliculitis and abcesses.  Today I met with a new dermatologist and she said they were  caused by a condition Hidradenitis Supprativa which is almost impossible to cure and often occurs with persistent acne (as I've had since 12 and am now 41).  She gave me clindalotion to use on actual spots and said when I get a painful swollen one, to call her immediately.  Her office injects a steroid into them which brings the swelling down almost immediately so I won't have to suffer for weeks at a time again.  I'm so glad I went to a new dermatologist and can get some relief.

I have the exact same issue. I usually got it from shaving or using new deodorants. I started using revive clinical protection deodorant which seriously helped out my issue. I have little to no bumps. I have been using it for a short amount of time. The first time i used it was before i went to bed. In the morning all the bumps shrunk in size and were not nearly as red as they were.

for years I would get underarm pimples, at least 2 per month. Sometimes they would grow as large as a grape under the skin, more like a swollen lymph node but very painful. My doctor diagnosed them as clogged sweat glands. over the past year They have dissapeared and most importantly- not come back. I have made several chnges that I know have contributed but I cant say which one was most beneficial;

I switched from drinking coffee to green tea, which has many added health benefits, 1-2 cups per day.

I began waxing my underarm area rather than shaving.

I stopped using store bought lotions, soaps and deoderants. Yes this means that I have to make everything myself, which took extensive research and testing on my own when starting out,  but it was all worth it.

Lastly, I alternate applying tea tree essential oil and lavendar essential oil daily.

Wow, I noticed a small pimple under my right armpit on Friday and I didn't think much of it. The next day It had swollen to the size of a small grape. I figured it was a pimple and decided to wait till it got a head and I would pop it. Well now it has become very large and very painful and I don't really see any sign of a white head. I called the doctor to make an appointment because I heard that Antiperspirant has been found to be associated with breast cancer. I recently switched from Right Gaurd spray to Suave Spray on Antipirsperant. I have used it for almost 1 month now and once I found the pimple stopped using it.

Thank you very much.... this has been very helpful for me because my doctor misdiagnosed me and stated that it was something else, but every time I take all my test, they come up perfectly find. I didn't start getting them until after I had my son and gained weight. I am considered to be obese according to my doctor and I am currently in the o process of loosing weight. I use to be so afraid when I got them because you hear all these horrifying stories about breast cancer, aids and etc... it kind of freaked me out. However I get regular checkups and I was just examined about 2weeks ago and everything turned out to be good besides my weight.

I've had this condition for many years. My armpits were a constant mess of cysts in different stages of development. I always drank an ounce or two of red wine before supper.  I ran out of wine and was too lazy to go and get more, after two days the cysts/pimples stopped forming and my pits were clear after about a week. . I still occasionally get break outs, usually after a glass of wine or too much acid in my diet.. The doctor didn't have a clue, called it something, intertriger maybe, the cream he gave me was useless. ............It's started again even though I am not drinking wine. I'll try the tea tree oil someone mentioned. Luckily the pimples only get as big as peas so it sounds like I'm lucky compared to some.

My pimples were the result of the deodorant I was using. I stopped using deodorant for like 1 week and it cleared itself up. If you use a lot of deodorant that could be causing your problem. Hope you get better like I did!

Hi everyone! I work as a consultant doctore specialising in skin treatments, to put it simply. Getting small lumps in places such a armpits, elbow creases or knee creases could be one of many things. It is unusual to get pimples in these places as there is excess skin so that the joint can bend so the pores aren't stretched, however it isn't impossible. If the lumps get a head then it MIGHT be a pimple. Quite simply, it could be eczema! Eczema can just be a red patch on the skin or it can appear as small, itchy lumps. Despite these all being valid possiblities, there is definitely a high chance that it is Moluscum Contagiosum. Moluscum's, for short, are small lumps that appear in warm and possibly sweat-ridden places of the body. They are a viral problem that needs to be sorted straight away! They will appear one at a time. First off, you may assume that its just a small growth or maybe a mole even though its skin-coloured. But soon they begin to multiply. They smell of cheese and shouldn't ever be touched with barre hands. They will cause you no pain. To get rid of them, my professional side reccomends going to your local GP and getting some ointment, however this is not the most effective method. My non-proffesional side reccomends, against most doctors opinions, that you purchase some dentist-style rubber first aid gloves and one by one pop each one. When it is squeezed, it will pop out, a bit like a cheese plug, in a hard little lump. To do this, it may be easier with tweezers. Washing it with very dense salt water and then using a blow dryer to dry them out is very effective. Personally, when I got molluscums I went on holiday to Lanzarote 2 weeks later. By the time I got back to england, they were gone!! The sun and the salty sea water dried them out and cleansed the infected area! However, I did swim in the sea for about 2 hours each day for 2 weeks. Molluscums are nasty and embarrasssing and do spread ever so quickly!! One touch and they'll be all over your fingers! Be warned!!! I hope that this has helped you! Xx

Are you talking to me about natural deodorant? I think your sweat glands are being blocked, I sometimes have these same bumps whenever my glands get blocked. They show up in my groin, on my ass, and in other places. It usually happens after I workout and I sweat a lot and they take a few weeks to fully go away Try putting some kind of talcum powder or Goldbond powder in those areas in the morning and at night it should stop you from sweating. It won't clear up the one's you have now, but it will probably prevent you from getting new ones

I also thought i had this. there was a acne looking like thing in my armpit, and it was swollen red and hurt to put my arm down and to touch it. i was too embarrassed to tell my mom so she could schedule a dermatologist appointment, so i came here looking for ways to get rid of it myself. at the time i was also taking meds for acne on my face, and one of the products i had was a wash to use in the shower. the doctor said i could use it on other that my face if i ever got acne on my shoulders, chest, etc. so i said to myself, why not try it on my armpit? so i used it in the shower that night, and In the morning there was immediate results. it was still there, just smaller and less red. so if you think you have something like this, please go see a doctor because they can get much much worse and hurt a ton. even if you're embarrassed, the doctor will give you something to help it go away, so go see a doctor as soon as possible.

You probably have bacteria from sweat that worked its way into the pores of your skin. Don't break anymore, as the staph bacteria will use it to get you even more. Take a tsp. of salt, mix into a qt. of warm water and use a white cloth to bathe the area 3 times a day. Your pimples will come to a head, and the puss will come out. Don't use deodorant, because it seals the bacteria under the skin. Use powder if need be. Your problem should be gone in a week or so. Avoid shaving underarms too.

Hello my name is Mark, I read your issue and as one person has said it could be the start of Hidradentitis Suportiva. Please do not get dismayed. If you google it or see videos of it you can really get depressed. I get pimples under my armpit every now and then. I usually happens if I use a deodorant with a lot of fragance that clogs my pits. I am not saying go crunchy and not bathe. Use soap obviously see a dermatologist. Chlorhexadine wash may be prescribed to wash the pits (I am not a doctor) they may also prescribe an Erythromycin foam.

The one thing I can say that you probably did more damage than anything with is

NEVER USE HYDROGEN PEROXIDE EVER!!! That is the worse thing to put on an open wound, like when you popped the pimple. It kills the good cells as well as the bad cells.

I use a sulfur/salycilic acid soap by KAVI skincare. I do not work for the company and am not a spokesperson.

If you work out, take it easy.....too much exercise like weight lifting causes stress, increases cortisol and makes acne worse. Good luck man. Hidradentitiis can suck but don't be dismayed if God forbid it is.
