I just developed a cyst on my pinky finger. Sounds like we all have mucous cysts. They are benign fluid sacs that form between the nail and distal IP JOINT. Doctors don't know why they form. Can be a part of osteoarthritis. I don't have OA. It hurts very bad if I press it.
Generally observation is recommended. If it ruptures it must be watched and probably see a hand specialist for antibiotic treatment so a bone infection doesn't occur. You don.t want a bone infection.

I am just wondering how to get rid of it. I play baseball and this it might have to do with me using gloves when i hit, but i was just wondering if there are any resolutions to my problem. I woke up with it not noticing but then about and hour later i noticed it. And last night i was sqeezing and pinching it. I then woke up with it throbing and continuing to annoy me with it throbing.

Hi, I'm in middle school, but I have the same thing. After reading your replies, I realized mine did appear after going to music class and playing a guitar. Mine used to be more.. Circular but now I can push it without any pain and it's gone down.

i had exactly the same thing. after several months of major discomfort i finally went to the doctor. they numbed my finger, made a little cut and out popped this little [about 1/8"] white ball. two stitches, afew intibiotics and all was well again in about a week. this was several years ago. no problems since.
can't remember what they called it though.

Hi all, does anyone have an answer or a solution to what this actually IS? Everyone is posting the very same problem, yet no one is shedding light on what it is. I'd be very grateful if you could diagnose this weird thing. thanks!!!

This seems to be a guitarist issue but I have it on my left thumb and I'm a right handed player, so how does that work??? I feel that if so many of us have this there should be a scientific name for this thing. Anyways, I'm gonna try to dig this thing out of my thumb tonight.

I just for this, and my health advice is awful so don't trust what I say. Didn't read whole chat here so the correct thing to do is probably mentioned, but I took a staple off a stapler, just one, and hit into it and it beautifully popped. Hope it's gone tomorrow.

I had the same thing on my thumb. A calaced small bump with a translucent center. I cut the calaced skin off until it bled. I put a bandaid on it but it still hurt like fire every time I touched it. Today I pulled on the white scab thing and a whit hard tiny ball came out when I pulled the skin. What is this? I think the pain is already subsiding that I had whenever I touched the spot

It may be whitlow infection, it is caused by the HSV (Herpes Simplex Virus) 90 % of the population have it and don't even realise it. It causes little blister like bumps on the fingers that have a what looks to be a hole in the middle
